I am so excited Basia is coming to the States for a tour! I'm just praying that she makes it out to Ohio. At least she did in 1994. Just don't think I can make the dates out on the East Coast. Are there any other Basia list members out here in Ohio and the surrounding Midwest? Maybe we could have a repeat of the Midwest BasiaFest of 1998 . . . . It could be better now there is a concert. :) raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 12 Feb 2005 17:40:01 +0100 From: "Tomasz Radzinski" Subject: Re: Translator needed! I think there's someone in Iowa, and someone in Kansas. So see, St. Louis would be perfect. A central location for all of those areas; Ohio, Iowa, and Kansas. There are some excellent venues here too. A nice outdoor pavilion with lots of space, both covered and uncovered. Some wonderful indoor venues too, like the Fabulous Fox Theatre. Or Powell Symphony Hall, not being used much with the current strike (I can't believe the orchestra is on strike, but I can see why they are and support them). Or the Concert Club at the Savvis Center. Or several other great places. I really hope a Midwest date comes up, or a few of them. I really doubt I can get to either coast this year. There's a slight chance I could get to California, but the odds of coordinating that with a tour date would be slim to none. I will have a small window of opportunity if I get to go at all. Plus I'd be visiting family and taking time to see the show would be tough and I'd feel bad (well, at least a little, ha ha). So PLEEEEEASE come to the Midwest!! I saw Basia in Cincinnati at the Cincinnati Music Hall in downtown. It was a wonderful venue auditorium, nice acoustics if I remember correctly. I wish she could come play here. Cincinnati has a rich history in the music arts and has quite a few nice venues for concerts and the arts. There is a nice venue in Kettering, Ohio, a suburb of Dayton, called the Fraze Pavilion. It's an outdoor theater in the park which would be perfect, especially for a Spring evening. I saw Aretha Franklin there, performing with members of the Dayton Philharmonic in 1994. Unfortunately it wasn't a good show, especially when she had her son rap through her intermission. He just wasn't that good, and plus it didn't flow well with her style of music. raburabu joe - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Barry" To: Sent: Saturday, February 12, 2005 10:43 AM Subject: RE: COME TO THE MIDWEST! Well, I am living in Colorado north of Denver but I am from Columbus. It would be worth coming back for! I had the pleasure of seeing her in Columbus and in Dayton in the 80's and was able to go backstage both times. It was great and she was so nice. The drummer at the time used to play for Wham and the opening act was Otmar Liebert.
