Remember with the exception of US Basiaphiles, most Americans DO NOT know who/what Matt Bianco is. I asked one person and they said it sounded like a rock star, when I mentioned Basia was in the group... it was "Oh yeah? Is that where she's been?". So back to Marketing 101: record guys sitting around trying to figure out how to sell our group. They know that Basia is the/* "brand name recognized"*/ member - so they have to capitalize on it. I mean all of hear Basia on Muzak but have we heard Matt Bianco (with the exception of the "Yeh Yeh" on a Chrysler ad last year) in the US airwaves - NO. WHAT IS DIFFERENT is that this is NOT an "EGO" thing from Basia/ (insofar as HER demanding this name chance)/, I believe we all have a pretty high opinion of Basia and have heard of her humility so we can all easily surmise that she is agreeing to this (as are Mark & Danny) since she wants the album and tour to be a success.... so reluctantly that is where her name is. Whether they are listed as "Matt Bianco featuring Basia" or "Basia featuring Matt Bianco" they want the tour to be successful. I mean, this is not like (for example) 10,000 Maniacs or Five for Fighting where the lead singer became the "brand" and got the name changed - either by their agent or by album company decision. That was EGO IMHO. So, I for one am not going to get upset about it as I want the tour to be successful, the album to sell well in the US and hopefully BRING BACK the music I love to the airwaves. - -- Beverly Okin-Larkin - -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Go to the Sirius homepage, www.sirius.com and click on the link below the radio demo that says "Listen Free. Get your 3 day pass." If you time it right, you can hear the program without subscribing. The web stream quality isn't as good as the satelllite system, but it's good enough to get an idea of what they have to offer. Dennis - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Leslie O." It makes sense, and I'm glad they did it so they can all make a living here. Seriously. They have to get that money, to live, and if it's a name switcheroo so be it. No brainer, I know. As far as marketing, kudos to their label. They just need better Photoshoppers. ;-) Being that Basia's ego is like nil (almost to a fault, which is what I love about her) it's cute that she is once again the center of things in spite of herself. No matter what she does to appear understated, she stands out as something special and different. Some people just are, whether they want to be or not! People that can record Sirius: do. Please. I may have it by then, but no guarantees. It's going to be a landmark presentation for the fandom, we need to be on it in some way. Word! Leslie Tired of spam? Yahoo!
