I've been meaning to ask...has anyone heard the new Anita Baker album? Saw it in the stores this week and wondered how it was. Any reviews? I got hold of a pre-release copy some time ago and thoroughly enjoy it. Classic Anita. Dennis ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 12 Sep 2004 19:01:07 -0700 (PDT) From: "Leslie O." Not that anyone would know the difference. ;-P I spent a great week on the road, from Detroit to San Fran. I gotta say, there is NOTHING, NOTHING on Earth like driving through the American Midwest, particularly through Iowa and Nebraska, with the Pat Metheny Group as the soundtrack. Ahhhhh.... That is all-- LOL! - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo! I got it and it still is in the process of growing on me. :-) A buddy of mine at work and me were just dying for this to come out-- we both loved Anita back in the day (he also is a Basia fan of sorts, though he sorely needed the other albums! He's listening to Matt's Mood now, thank God: someone in real life who may 'get it'). I bought it and while I love Anita, it was great to hear her, but it won't suprise anyone. He was actually kinda ticked off, saying that there was no growth whatsoever. I dunno, but Dennis is right, it is classic Anita and has that Anita sound. The one complaint I had about it was that it could have been released now or in 1995, really. It was a bit akin to Basia coming back with an album that sounded just like LWNY or something, this year! Ideally, I would have liked to have seen something extra, but it is pretty solid. Oh, BTW, I got it at Target for $11.88, they might be still selling it at that price. :D - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! I suppose if it was a noticeably different sound that it would turn a lot of old fans off. But then again, all her music was always kind of similar. I love it all anyway. I bought her greatest hits last year, and I've been listening a lot to it again lately. Can't wait to pick up the new disc. Her music always brings back good memories. raburabu joe ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V9 #176 ***************************
