Subject: Ooh, looky! The party continues in Germany. This is a sort of amalgam of the press release, a review, and a couple new interview bits. http://www.musicmanual.at/texte%20sommer2004/bianco.html In Bizarro-English courtesy of Google, with some minor cleanup by Leslie (i.e. Basia being from the South Poles, har har, had to go) Some of it, your guess is as good as mine. I will go back to flogging my husband for forgetting his German now. ;-) Matt Bianco - comeback of the Latin Pop Parfaits (author: Ludwig Jurgeit) Back to the success formation. In the group with the Keyboardist Danny White and the singer Basia those for Latin Pop group of Mark Reilly made its best album in 1984. It was the debut album, which by tasteful, well portionierten, times merry, times melancholy Latin Pop stormed the charts. Half A minute brought it to the Evergreen. [Or "Half a Minute" goes on forever--L.] Well in each bar and on parties a Bringer, under the seal Adult Contemporary. More Than I Can Bear, Sneaking Out The Back Door and Get Out OF Your Lazy Bed, all schmissige title, which let lead singer and Leader Mark Reilly become probably wehmuetig. After ever less successful years with keyboardist Mark Fisher, the singer deliberated himself upon the better origins with the group, which did not ever play live together. Matts Mood is the title of the new album by the old Matt Bianco. Already the title hints at the debut. Because on the first record there were the instrumental tracks Matts Mood and Matts Mood II. Matt Bianco was the name of a secret agent invented by us. We stood at that time on espionage films and the soundtracks , explains Reilly. The instrumentals would have been suitable also outstanding as sound tracks of such films. On the new CD finds one, well, Matts Mood III, the obvious continuation of I and II. The album is also a tribute to the baritone saxophonist Ronnie Ross, deceased in 1991. Ross, which blew the Saxsolo in Lou Reed's Walk on The Wild Side, supplied the jazz element to Matt Bianco's first three albums. And because there were still old recordings of Ross, the group used the material for three new numbers, which merry Cha Cha Cha Pop reminds La Luna, Ronnies Samba, leichtfuessig like Half A Minute and Slip&Sliding, much of the co-operation of Tom Jobim and Nelson Riddle. Basia, from Jaworzno, a medium sized industrial city in southern Poland [as opposed to 'the South Poles"!--L.] , had left the group with her former partner Danny White before the first Matt Bianco tour and had released six remarkably good and internationally successful solo albums: Time and Tide, London, Warsaw, New York, Brave New Hope, Sweetest Illusion, Drunk on Love, Basia on Broadway. [Drunk on Love isn't an album, but that's okay--L.] Danny White still produced the second Matt Bianco album, but had vacated the place at the keyboards for Mark Fisher. Basia's voice reminds of the great Astrid Gilberto and of Sade. Their temper is however more zupackender. Complements themselves perfectly with Reilly's coolness and his Faible for easily brasilianisierten Pop. When the spotlight shines, the shy Reilly acts like the Gigolo. One assumes Italian ancestors in its family tree, its family is however very Scottish. Ich are getingelt at the beginning of my career with my own group by each village in Poland, daily two Shows, remembers Basia. In the USSR we were six months on tour, you can imagine, like spartanisch at times of the iron curtain war. best conditions thus for a fat tour calendar. [Oookay--L.] Matt Bianco, European group with the Polish singer Basia. Suitably the European Union extension to the East? We were just in Poland, laugh Mark Reilly, and the people like our sound. No suprise, with the charismatisc front duo. Einige regret that I do not sing any longer solo, but I find, on my records am missing the male voice. Matt Bianco with Mark and me, makes the sound complete. and Danny White pays attention to good arrangements, which are extensively rehearsed. Is there free space for changes in such a concept? We need a group with eight, nine people into with the appearance the discipline of a small big band, says White. more Aber the Soli is each evening different, and the Show has naturally also dynamics. [???] We work on us, while we on the way are. And because we are not well enough prepared, we rejected some invitations to the this summer. We will go next year. Successes of Norah Jones, Diana Krall and Jamie Cullum could prove fruitful for the Ur-Matt-Bianco be. Well arranged Pop jazz is experiencing a boom, and Mark Reilly means completely self-confident: Wir again our debut album belonged to us and were surprised, as freshly and directly it sounds still. It seems to fit even still better into the today's time than then. END! - --Leslie, who likes her parfait with Cool Whip __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
