Subject: Spanish interview, another one that is Okay everyone, wake up! :-D Again, I wish I could speak all the languages of the world so I can do a better job understanding all these great interviews MB is doing. Aaargh. But here's a reasonable Google translation of this link: http://www.larazon.es/ediciones/anteriores/2004-06-19/noticias/noti_esp07.htm It's a little unclear who is talking at any given time but still is cute and entertaining. Saturday 19 of June of 2004 Matt Bianco, trio of cinema The English group returns, after several years of absence, with "Matts s Mod" Adriana Frade Rothlander MADRID Sounds of fifty and sixty "jazzy", of the films of secret agents and rates of music very "happy". Matt Bianco is a trio, although the majority thinks that it is the name of a singer. Of that and its new disc, that this week will leave on sale, we spoke in Madrid with its components. I ask to them for the reason of its original name, and Danny, the "memory" of the group, me the account: "He was a little playfully, it was like alter ego, the name of an imaginary singer of night club of Fertile valleys, a name like Tony Bennett, is not that Bennett is a night club singer, but a name of that type... We thought about Tony Martin, we looked for that he sounded like the personage of a film of spies of 50 or 60. We like much that roll. In the disc there are subjects like Kaleidoscop or Wrong side of the Street in where we have taken the sound from that type of films of a very cinematographic way. We tried to incorporate an imaginary spy who is called Matt Bianco and like there was nobody in the group that is called thus, we thought that he was amused." And they are left of laughter, for that reason from the jokes that take control of the name of the group. Mark, Danny and Basia become to unite in a second work, since from his first disc they had not become to find, although Basia and Danny have continued publishing under the name of Basia, and Mark under the name of Matt Bianco. The best thing of best, the most likeable thing and amused of the interview with the trio, is the presence of Basia, its feminine vocalista, with which the conversation is an explosive pump of laughter and outbursts of laughter of all. We spoke of the place of each one in music like interpreter: "With respect to the voice I feel very comfortable with this style, seems as if my voice, which I offer, fitted perfectly with him. When we compose a song I imagine a film, perhaps comic strips, are by the atmosphere of the songs ". Perhaps I answer difficult that it is for a singer to find the his place in music, musical thing to him to do them what it leaves to them the heart is simple, an interpreter, goes all the life looking for its site: "Exactly! When I began to sing very unfortunate era, it did announcements, jingles, and it always sang as they said to me, or seeming me to somebody. 20 years in reaching that conclusion take: that it is only necessary to sing what you feel ". We spoke of men, of the boys of the group, Mark and Danny, who are living between diapers and they rise and they lay down very early, whereas Basia takes the schedule the other way around. We spoke of the letters of the songs, that sometimes speak of sad things, that I really see like the reality, than something sad, and that people does not change more, thing that Basia doubts, and according to her, the changes are drastic, and for good, in where we remained, since They give ny the offer to shut up (what we got to speak some women) and we spoke of Ronnie Ross, to which there are including in three subjects of the disc, one of the best saxofonistas of the world, which they will have enjoyed in the classic one Lou Reed, "Take to Walk on the Wild Side": "It touched in my first disc. In our beginnings we recorded much with him. It passed away 10 years ago already, but we remembered that we had that material, so Mark and I went to the study, we removed the parts in which he touched, we separated them, we put them in our computer and we began to write the songs around the single ones of Ronnie so that they fitted perfectly. They are "the moon", "Ronniis Samba" and "Sleeping sliding". We have done like a tribute him, was a so good musician, and because it is part of our sound, and we wanted to recover it ". The disc has been recorded in a study in where the breath could be seen when speaking, but its content is as warm as the days of summer, like one night of passion and is perfect for hacerte to accompany by the spy who can solve any situation to you. END! So there you go, kinda. :-) And again, if anyone knows Polish and is interested in translating something to share with the list(s), let me know... - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? With all the recent news on Basia and Matt Bianco, I've gotten requests from a few people to update the http://basia.techwood.org/ website with new material. Unfortunately, I really don't have the time or enthusiasm to manage this site anymore. I thought I was going to be able to squeeze it in earlier this year, but I'm just involved with too many things. However, this is a site that's pretty popular and historically significant. That's why I'm looking for any volunteers that would like to take over the site and revamp it with my blessing. I'm willing to continue to offer webspace and hosting services for this site along with access to all the hosted materials. If anyone wants to take on this task, let me know by direct email to combee@techwood.org. Speaking of updates-- Does anyone know if Beverly left the list? I can't seem to get hold of her using her email address--of course, I may be going directly into the spam file with a yahoo address and all. :-) Beverly, if you're out there, give me a sign, I've got some discog stuff that I want to do! :-D - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
