Subject: RE: Off Topic: The Last Days.... Wow, sorry to hear about your dad's troubles. One thing that may be good to know is that when managed well, a person can have a long life with heart problems, even when they have to reduce their workload. My mom has congestive heart failure and she can't work any more, but she is living an otherwise regular life. Once the medication and new lifestyle is adapted, things are stable and people feel better. It's hard getting through the figuring out the doses of medicine and activity level, but if he sticks with a plan and is patient it will be very good! The stubbornness, though, I know what you mean. We can't get my grandpa to take the morphine, and it's a nightmare with the pain, but no one can convince him. He also thinks we are going to slip him some so he eyes everyone with suspicion. I know there are a lot of folks dealing today with the loss of Ray Charles, too. When I was about 10 years old I heard him and the Rayettes singing 'Hit the Road, Jack' and I was knocked out. Over the years he provided so much fabulous music. I only saw him in performance in Bangor, Maine in 1985. Ray was 100% class. I did an instrumental version of "Run For Cover" on my two new(er) keyboards. I thought it went well. There were several people who were already Basia fans. I did find myself realizing after talking to one of the parents that I was probably pronouncing "Basia" wrong. Her name (no doubt) does not have an "sh" sound to it, but my mind seems to connect it with a "Marcia" kind of sound. It IS pronouned with a "short" A sound, no? Hopefully, I have THAT right. I have another recital next Friday, and plan to do that song again then. Truth be know, it was "The Sweetest Illusion" CD that inspired me to search for upgrades in keyboards. I had the little one for 11 years, and knew I wanted to move up, but just didn't know what I really wanted. But after finding a couple of websites that put everything into perspective, I bought a Yamaha PSR 630 and a 520, and couldn't be happier with them. Yet another benefit of being a Basiaphile! :) Phil(2) ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 11 Jun 2004 13:39:38 -0400 From: "Paxety Pages" Subject: Re: Run For Cover I posted Basia herself saying her name a couple of years ago - here's the link. http://paxety.com/Archive/093002BasiaBirthday.html un abrazo, juan *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** On 6/11/2004 at 11:34 AM PParm16424@aol.com wrote: >Well sports fans, > >I ended up doing one of Basia's songs at yesterday's piano recital.
