Speaking of President Reagan - I was in DC yesterday standing along Constitution Avenue for the processional. I was standing right at the point along 3rd where the caisson hesitated and the jets flew overhead, including the missing-man formation - unbelievably powerful and emotional. Absolutely a powerful experience. As for anyone in the DC area considering visiting the Capitol today ... I stood in line last night to pay respects, and it was well worth it, I highly encourage it. There's a somber respect and compelling nature to the rotunda that doesn't come across TV. I saw former Sec of State George Schultz near the Capitol. Also spotted and briefly met Richard Norton Smith - former Reagan librarian - in the line, waiting for 5 hours along with the rest of us. But no Basia music. - - Steve ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 10 Jun 2004 11:39:06 -0400 From: "Steve O'Hearn" Subject: RE: Off Topic: The Last Days.... Wow, sorry to hear about all of this. - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org]On Behalf Of Desianto F. W. But first, I'm sorry to hear the death of the former US President, Ronald Reagan. How's the Basia talks these days? It seems that most of us is still waiting for Matt's Mood. For those who had got the new album, well, congratulations! I didn't write much in the last days and I have the reason for it. On Tuesday 1, my father was hospitalized because of his high blood pressure and a heart disorder. He had to stay in the hospital for 9 days. This was the second time for him to be hospitalized, the first time, he had to stay for about 3 full weeks, in 1998 - 1999. Yes, he had to spend New Year's Eve on the hospital bed at that time.... Everytime he has health problems, it always makes the entire family "suffer". No wonder because he is always close to the "expensive health problems" due to his workload besides from the heredity - he got his high blood pressure from his parents. Frankly, it can be avoided if he listened to the family's advices not to work too hard especially at his age, never eat junk food, and take day offs that the office gives him every year that he never takes. Even, the doctor said to him when he was hospitalized, "If you love your family, please take a rest for at least two weeks!" But I know that he will against doctor's advice because he is so "stubborn". Well, it seems that my family and I have to pray and try harder to make him "slow down" and enjoy his life. And me? Well, when he was hospitalized, I had to drive at 75 to 80 mph., at least four times a day, to and from the hospital, taking my mother or brother, along the winding, uphill and downhill free way, not mentioning the busy city streets if I had to go to the pharmacy, in that solar- powered 4WD Daihatsu Taft GT (or Rocky in the US). Solar- powered? Yes! Here in Indonesia, solar-powered vehicles had been extensively used since decades ago. Confused? Don't be! Because, in Indonesia, diesel fuel is called Solar... :-) Tired? Of course, because I have to concentrate not to hit the slower vehicles before me or going off-course and go down into the valley at that speed besides thinking of my father, and doing the daily jobs, including cooking, cleaning up the house, and staying up late night just in case there was a phone call about his condition. But now, we're happy because he had come home and around the family. He had to take a rest and it's not an easy job for the family to keep him at home and do the recovery process. If anyone of you have experiences like this, especially in making someone to take a rest to recover his/her health, while on the other hand, he/she insists to go to work, please share them to us so we can do better. OK, enough for now. When I have something about Basia to talk about, I'll share it with you all. Czesc, Desianto F. W. Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo!
