Washington, New Hampshire, when the wind blew for five minutes at 188 mph (303 kph), with wind gusts of 234 mph (372 kph). Only two percent of all tornados (winds over 205 mph) are classified as violent, but they cause 70 percent of all deaths. Category five tornados can have winds of 318 mph, but the wind speed is determined by the damage because most wind speed instruments cannot survive the destructive power. The fastest heart rate on record, personally, was when I was watching Basia sing! Can it really be she will be touring the U.S. next year with Matt Bianco! That's what I call a category 5 happening. Desianto Hi, I think the fastest wind speed ever recorded in the continental US was at a weather station in the White mountain range in New Hampshire may be around 200+ MPH. Last Saturday night about twenty miles south of my home an F4 rated tornado LEVELED the small town of Hallam, Nebraska. The entire city of 300 or so is gone, it derailed a train and swept along a 50 mile path, county by county. One person died. So if you guys don't here from me for a long time it will be that my mac is in another county. hangin' on for dear frigin' life Tom - ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 30 May 2004 11:58:39 -0400 From: "Jeff Abrams" Subject: RE: way to fast The fastest winds were recorded at the top of Mount Washington in New Hampshire. - - --- Jeff Abrams maniac@mazdamaniac.com For centuries, people thought the moon was made of green cheese. Then the astronauts found that the moon is really a big hard rock. That's what happens to cheese when you leave it out. - - -----Original Message----- From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org]On Behalf Of tom, kelly&jordan Sent: Sunday, May 30, 2004 11:42 AM To: basia@smoe.org Subject: way to fast Is it true that the fastest wind ever recorded is at Mount Rainier? So sad, how beautiful and well-designed Detroit was in it's heyday, and how horrid it is now. Imagine if Chicago let all its amazing architecture rot and burn. Yeah, exactly, how could anyone let that happen! Yet Detroit did. I'm not too optimistic that they will be able to save this one. After all, the Michigan Theatre is a parking garage! (Bay area folks: imagine the Paramount in Oakland rotted, gutted, and used as a parking ramp. Tragic. No respect whatsoever for history, and such a hugely corrupt city government. I also see that Charles Howard's ranch is up there. I'm rooting for that one to be saved too. - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo!
