Hmmm....) All teasing, Phil! I'm from the Pontiac area actually. And the Pistons played like crap tonight. Jakarta is the city where my brother is. I'm in Semarang, the capital of Central Java. You said that you also went to Bali. It means, you have crossed Semarang by plane. If only I knew you months ago, I would wave my hands to every plane flying above Semarang to the East... :-) Lynn, how do you think about Indonesian food? Is it too spicy? I ask this because many Americans and Europeans complain that Indonesian food is too "damn" (sorry) spicy though I know that there are Americans who don't want to go home just because they "fall in love" with Indonesian food. > and... by the way, the Indonesians are lovely people. Really? Aahhh.. jadi malu, saya... (Aahhh.. I'm flattered..) Many American (?) movie makers think that Indonesian look like other Asians. That's why, they use Vietnamese or Thai artists if they want to make - usually - low-budget action movies about "some area" in Indonesia. Well, of course, it makes me laugh. But the truth is that, many Indonesian are mixed between Asian (Malayan, Chinese, sometimes Japan) and European (usually Dutch or Portugesse) though of course there are still many native tribes such Javanese, Dayak, Sasak, Batak, Ambon, and Irian which is closer to Negroid in appearances. But the number is decreasing since "cross-wedding" is very common here. I myself is half Javanese, a little Chinese, and a very little Dutch. That's why, you can find Keanu Reeves look alike, Basia Look alike, Brad Pitt look alike, Jacky Chan look alike, Angelina Jolie look alike, Nicole Kidman look alike, the late Lady Diana look alike, Magic Johnson look alike, even Kofi Anan look alike, and other look alikes, with Indonesian "tastes", because of our mixed races. And me? Just say, Desianto look alike... :-) > Isn't it wonderful the way the internet connects so many > peoples. I am half Swiss, half American. "Lynn" is fine. > > lbj Yes, you're right! The Internet connects SO many different people. The first time I use it, I was so surprised when I got a reply from Belgium, from Fina oil company, when I ask them about the oil I bought. I said to myself, "It's too good to be true! Am I dreaming?" Later, I learn a lot about other cultures directly from the first hands, including from this Basia list, though of course, I have to digest them quiet hard, even standing upside-down, to understand them. So, let's keep the Internet as the friendship mean and keep it safe from threats. Have a nice weekend everyone! Desianto F. W. Friends. Fun. Try the all-new Yahoo! My brother has his own small IT company and he relies on Linux to run the company. But he also studies UNIX and Sun, as well as Microsoft. Well, if a boy started to make computer programs using Basic and Turbo Pascal when he was only 10, you know how well he is at computers, unlike me. I'm sure, if only you knew him, you'd get hot discussions in computers, a lot! > This looks like a friendly list, and glad to meet and > mingle with everyone! We don't bite,.... unless if asked.... :-) > I've not been to Indonesia, but have had exotic pets which > are indiginous to there; Lorikeet and Sugargliders In addition, orangutan, bekantan (monkey with long nose), and bird of paradise are other Indonesian native animals but they're protected. I used to have some cats but some of them died because of old age and some of them were missing. I plan to have the new one but so far I don't find the right one. > I need a life outside of work, where travel is involved :) Well, you can travel almost everywhere, virtually, using the Internet. But of course, going to the place directly will give you much sensations.... :-) > Originally, I'm from the Seattle part of the US, now in > Chicagoland, where we have a lot of flat land. Lots. Is it true that the fastest wind ever recorded is at Mount Rainier? BTW, Basia had ever lived in Chicago for two years at the early of her career. > *Lisa Gerrard, Kate Bush, Bjork, Loreena McKennitt, Sarah > McLachlan, Fiona Apple, and some others > > -*- > Eryn Rachell Saddler .::. I'd hate to be in the locker room with Larry Brown after that mess. :( Did you hear the commentator after the game, he sounded so incredibly pissed at Tayshaun Prince for not scoring, I thought he was gonna go find him and take him outside. Damn! > So I see you are a big basketball fan. Another > reason I like you! > > "She likes basketball > Isn't that wild? > We have something in common to talk about - > Basketball!" Aw shucks! Hahahaha! Well, I love me some Pistons. Gotta watch the other teams more often too, though. Only in the postseason do I ever get to see Pistons games televised...oh, unless they play the Warriors.
