Subject: Re: Off Topic: Happy Mothers Day Yes, the hardest. Even if you're "successful" with other children, especially if you're a school teacher, it's sometimes harder to face our own children in the family because we know them well and vice-versa. For example if we ask our children to study at night, they'll probably ask us, "Why don't you study instead of watching TV, Dad/Mom?" However, when we've gone thru all of bringing-up things, especially when our children grow very well (having dignity and good hearts), all we can do is just say "Thank You" though the feelings behind this are unexplainable. Some say that this "ultimate career" is a never ending career. Well, it could be true because we'll take it even to the grave. All that the children can remember is how good, or even great, their fathers/mothers are, deep inside their heart, though maybe they wouldn't say it with their mouths. You can find great fathers/mothers everywhere if you open your eyes and hearts wide enough. Sometimes, I'm touched by what I see, whether it's in my real life or on TV. I've ever seen bikers with leather jackets, tatooes, beard and moustaches, and robust bodies cuddling their babies so gently. I've ever seen a lot of prostitutes do their best for their children's future. I've ever seen young couples with "MBA degree" (Married Because of an "Accident" - I apologize if I insult someone's feelings here) do their best to be great parents for their children - even some of my own friends are included in this category. Everytime I remember them, I'm happy that I got a chance to know them and be their friend. And still more but I stop here. But I've also ever seen a lot of fathers/mothers spoil their children and make them spoiled kids. IMHO, if this ultimate career were considered as the same as other careers, there would be a lot of penalties to those fathers/mothers because they're failed to be good fathers/mothers - and to their children because they're failed to be good children. Even if you don't have children, you still can be great fathers/mothers by, e.g. being foster parents, taking step children, or even taking good care of animals. I don't give you more examples because you know better than I do. IMHO, that's why Basia wrote "Perfect Mother" and "The Prayer of a Happy Housewife". Sooner or later, I would be a father (I'm not married yet, so let's say, the next 5?, 6?, or 10 years?). I would began my ultimate career and I realize it's not an easy job. I wish I could do that well and do my best. Being good parents is not a "one direction process". Surely, I would need feedbacks from my children, my wife, other parents (including our parents), people, and of course from the Lord, the Creator of life. Sorry for writing too much.... Desianto F. Definitely true, although that unfortunate attitude is not a problem in the U.S. alone. In addition to "rewarding", I would add it is perhaps one of the two most inportant jobs in the world. The other one being fatherhood. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 12 May 2004 09:54:09 -0500 From: "Barry" Subject: Re: Off Topic: Happy Mothers Day > Definitely true, although that unfortunate attitude is not a problem in the > U.S. alone. I totally agree that those are the two most important jobs on the planet. I am just glad you didn't list something silly like being President. ;) Barry "Do not go where the path may lead, go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." - Ralph Waldo Emerson ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V9 #85 **************************
