OK, I have to admit that I was wrong. After saving and watching on the clip many times, I'm sure enough that Basia is the guitarist, not the bassist. I got this conclusion after I compared the clip to the cover of WSAYO UK version. Well, it seems that she is the only player who moves back and forth. I wonder if she also moves back and forth extensively in her performances on stage. Desianto F. W. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Subject: Off topic: Basia Trivia Hi all, The releasing of the new MB album in next May reminds me to the trivia (or quiz, or whatever it is) that we talked about months ago about when will Basia release her next album. My question is that: is the quiz still "valid" because at that time we talked about a solo album, not MB album? Cheers, Desianto F. W. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Please fill me in!! Richard from Ohio ------------------------------ Date: Thu, 18 Mar 2004 08:15:09 -0800 (PST) From: "Desianto F. W." Subject: Off Topic: One year had passed..... Hi all, Today, March 18, 2004, is exactly one year for me to be on the list. The first topic that I received at that time is: "I miss Basia", posted by Robert Burns. It seems that our thirst and curiosity soon will be quenched and fulfilled in less than two months... :-) Since that day, I've got a lot of things and learned many things. I met many kinds of people with their unique attitudes that sometimes shock me till I have to think really hard to understand and finally I can laugh at myself, laugh at my ignorance, when I get the message. But one thing that makes me sad is that some people had gone and never come up again. If it's because of my fault, please forgive me. I wish they will come up again and share the ideas of being Basia's people. BTW, do you know what made me interested to jump in the list? Besides of my interest in Basia's music, one of you made me to do that though she didn't do it directly. One day, I sneaked into the archive of smoe.org to read some info about Basia. One message, which talked about a review of Basia album from amazon.com, caught my attention and before I thought about whose review that they talked about, I got the answer. It's my review. I couldn't believe my eyes. I thought, "Why they chose my review? There are some better and more serious reviews than mine but why they chose that silly review?" I still remember that the topic was posted by Leslie and responsed by Krystyna and Steve O'Hearn. I thought for some times, bewildered, and then I said to myself, "Terlanjur basah, ya sudah, mandi sekalian." It's an Indone- sian proverb. The translation: "I've been soaked wet, so there is nothing I can do but bathing." It means, I've gone too far and there's no turning back and all that I can do is "play the game". So I joined the list and... you know the next story. And now, what is my hope for the next step? I hope I will be able to hang on for one more year and do my best to contribute to the list. OK, while we're waiting for the oncoming MB album, I have something for you. I've seen the photos of a few people here (Ben Combee, Larry Lipman, and Odillon Jose Luciano). Now, I'll give you the address of Gunter Family Newsletters. Yes, it's Thelma's newsletters. Maybe some of you had visited her site but I'll give the address anyway. You can visit her at http://www.geocities.com/n524789/ In there, you can read a lot about her and her family and go to some available links. You can also see some photos of her family. That's all. It's Matt Bianco new album with Basia vocals inside. We don't know whether or not her vocals will be in all songs or just some. We don't know how many songs in it. It will be released in May 2004 and under the label Universal Records. All we can do is, one more time, waiting but not in vain because we have the solid info now. I hope it gives you something. Hello Basia fans: This is the first message I post since 1999 and I apologize because it is not about Basia. English is not my native language so please forgive any wrong grammar too. The fact is that I have just read the news about the sudden death of Bob Mayo, a Peter Frampton's band member and one of the most talented musicians I've ever heard to. He passed away on Feb 23rd. I guess those news didn't go to press headlines because Mayo was not the kind of musician we are all used to read about in music magazines or watch in TV shows. Some of you guys who have taken music lessons or maybe are professional musicians might agree with me when I say that Bob Mayo's style for playing guitar or keyboards was really full of feelings, skill, and colour, though you had to hear his music through Aerosmith or Frampton's heavy sound most of the time. I think Mayo's keyboard solos in Frampton's "Baby I love your way" and "Do you feel like we do" (Frampton comes alive! album) are two of the most beautiful moments recorded ever. Why am I talking about Bob Mayo in a Basia list? Well, this is the only place I know where all of us members can express our musical preferences and thoughts in a straightforward way and, all opinions are respected. I've had the opportunity of reading postings about dozens of different musicians (some of them are fantastic, others really suck) during these 5 past years, so I hope nobody gets annoyed, OK? I know this is a Basia mailing list and we are all Basia fans but, I am really sad of not hearing anything about Mayo and his music and, I believe you maybe would like to know that, IMHO, this guy performed with his heart, just the way Basia do.
