One of the songs is "I Should Be So Lucky". Desianto F. Fernanda Porto - if you can believe it, this is Brazillian Drum and Bass. Maybe more electronica. Anyway, I like it. There are a number of new songs and even a D&B rendition of an old Jobim standard. Maria Rita - what a surprise this is, because Maria is the daughter of Elis Regina. Elis was an MPB star before her strange death in the late 70s. She recorded an album with Jobim and was, so far as I know, the first woman to record Waters of March. Anyway, Maria sounds wonderfully like her mother - both smooth and powerful at the same time. I only wish she had a better producer/arranger. The midi horns on a couple of selections are just dreadful. Still very worth listening to. juan ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 30 Jan 2004 19:36:52 -0800 (PST) From: "Desianto F. W." Subject: Is she a smoker? (Re: more singers) Eemmm... Juan... is Basia a smoker? I hope she is not because it can ruins her voice. I myself don't like smoking habit (not the person, just the habit) and never smoke even a single sigarette/cigar in my life. Desianto F. (Re: more singers) Yes, Desianto. I believe Basia IS a smoker, or at least was. I have a videotape of her being interviewed and there is an ashtray next to her with a cigarette sitting in it burning away as she talks. It looks pretty obvious that it's hers. But this video is 12-15 years old. She could have quit at any time. And, I could be wrong in the first place anyway. BTW, Sade is/was also a smoker. Wonder if she gave it up when her daughter was born? Joe in Baltimore On Fri, 30 Jan 2004, Desianto F. W. wrote: > > Eemmm... Juan... is Basia a smoker?
