Those are all great classics of yours, Ed! I love Stravinski, Debussy, Rimskij-Korsakov, Sibelius, Borodin (tons of others), the great Italian operas like Puccini and Leoncavallo and some modern English language operas, especially in fall and winter; Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Santana, Tom Petty, Yes, Sting, Golden Earring, Steely Dan, Brenda Russell, The Manhattan Transfer, Spin Doctors, Pearl Jam, Matchbox Twenty, Fiona Apple, Alanis Morissette, Sheryl Crow, Train, Nickelback, '50s & '60s DooWop a cappella - this could go on for a long time, so I'll just quit. I listen to music constantly; life would be a strange form of torture without it. That said, I go thru long periods of time when the cats and I want to wake up to Basia and nothing else. I just bought a duplicate set of Basia cds because a couple of mine are showing signs of extreme wear. Whoever said cds don't wear out was incorrect. I betcha everybody on this list displays their own form of musical eclecticism. Cheers! /jan - ----- Original Message ----- From: Star Eyes To: Basia list Sent: Monday, November 24, 2003 10:41 PM Subject: Other excellent musicians! Hey, Long time, have had no time for replies till now. I was wondering, What other types of music do the list members listen to? I really enjoy Lady B's music when it suits the mood, but I do really enjoy some heavier sounds also. What are some of the other influences you listen to regularly? Some of my Heavy metal musician friends can't see me listening to Basia, as well as some of my wife's friends can't believe I love playing along to Neil Peart on my drums. And I really dig Vivaldi, Brahms, Mozart and the like. And sometimes nothing beats the early jazz/fusion sounds while hanging out GB on the waterfront in San Fran on a cool, drizzly, foggy night ( I love the way the lights glisten off all the wetness). I belong to several music lists, and not one is in the same Genre'. Anybody else here have a strange dichotomy of playing styles, taste and image as well?.
