What about other > countries folks on this list know about? > un abrazo, > juan > > *********** REPLY SEPARATOR *********** Hello Juan! To be honest, no. I mean, people in Indonesia don't do trick or treat when Halloween comes because there's no Halloween in Indonesia....:-) I and maybe many friends here who aren't Americans or living in America know Halloween from American movies. When I was a freshman in the faculty, we did make two Halloween parties in 1998 and 1999, held by my faculty. My job was making decorations in the hall with some friends, from 2 p.m. till 2 a.m., even more. I never came to those parties because the more (or most?) interesting things for me were my pillow, blanket, guling (ask me if you don't know what guling is), and bed because I was too sleepy to attend all kinds of party after staying awake for about 19 to 22 hours (I did it after my classes, started at 7 a.m., so, well, you get the picture..)....:-D But we don't do it again since 2000, not because the faculty doesn't allow to but because most of the new students aren't interested in it anymore; they don't want to be the committee, all they want is having fun, looking good, and no 'painful (but fun)' work. Sometimes, my friends and I call them the victims of Asian soap operas, esp. their looks. Right now, at least for a month, I try to save my ears from the sound of fireworks because now is the fast time for Moslems before Ramadhan. Every once a year for a month or more during the fast and Ramadhan, they usually burn a lot of fireworks. If it's only once or twice, I think it will be OK. But for a month, days and nights? IF ONLY the fireworks COULD sing like Basia, I would gladly join them. But all that they can do is "boooom" and "boooom", no different since the age of the grandparents till the Internet era. So, IMHO, it's just wasting a lot of money. Not mentioning the casualities; amputated or even killed by mis- handled fireworks, burned and exploded house because most of them make the fireworks illegally, etc...etc. BTW, did anyone of you or your children get a lot of candy?...:-) Desianto F. Todd - the guitarist I spoke of who used to perform with Eva Cassidy - is there most Friday nights. He's touring Europe for the next few weeks, but if you visit http://www.marblehallsmusic.com, you can see his schedule. Never heard of Pam Bricker, but heard of U-Topia. Also - isn't there a revived old blues club from the 20's that was recently reopened in DC? ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 04 Nov 2003 17:15:44 -0600 From: =?iso-8859-1?Q?Sergio_Ch=E1vez?= Subject: RE: Knock, knock... I've searched everywhere but the newest thing that I could find is our mail digest...:-D It seems that we have to wait longer, but let's hope that we'll get something at the end of the year; usually, the end of the year is the perfect time to release a new album, isn't it? For those who had been 'awake' because of my message, well, you can 'sleep' again or, maybe, accompany me to search something new about her. Enjoy your days...:-) Desianto F.
