He was congenial and we had a nice discussion about his own career. He is still making great music. I think if you have the opportunity to talk to performers, it is rude not to ask or be interested in their career and only ask about someone else. I could see how he could become annoyed if people kept asking about Basia while not giving a damn about his music. I did a play with Jean Stapleton. One time an autograph seeker said in ear shot of Jean's husband, the late Bill Putch, "Let's get the husband's autograph." So Bill signed it, "The Husband." Bill was the director of the play and the owner of the playhouse. Fred - ----------------- Re: basia-digest V8 #145 ["Desianto F. W." ] Re: Some old things....plus... ["Desianto F. W." Some months ago, we got a mail that he reacted 'not so well' (I don't know the appropriate term for this) to the questions about Basia but he tried to answer them politely, kindly, and clearly. A BELATED HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO BASIA! Her BD will be easy to remember since it is also my youngest son's BD. (He turned 25 yesterday.) No matter what her age, her music is timeless, no? :) Phil (2) ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V8 #151 ***************************
