Subject: Re: Natasha Kakulska - Another Polish diva? Hello, I would like to clear some things. First of all not Natasha but Natalia Kukulska. I may tell you some interesting things about her if you want to know. Well - she started to sing at the age of 6 - some songs for children, I liked her a lot when I was little girl (mind, she is maybe maximum 5 years older than me so sthe like 27 or 28). Her mother Anna Jantar was a popular singer of the 70s but she died in an airplane crash and her father composer or text writer (I am not sure). Well, for many years after recording her Children album Natalia was not singing but than at the age of maybe 18 or 19 she returned to this. I am not sure if one may call her diva. For sure she is beautiful has good voice and I like some of her songs. But frankly speaking many of them seems almost the same to me. My favourite song of hers is the only one that seems much different from all the others - the title of the song is "Daleki Brzeg" (that means far coast). Well if you are interested in something more or some translations write me. Hi Fred (and everybody), I've looked at the pages you mentioned about Natalia Kukulska. I agree with you about her good looks; her long black wavy hair reminds me to my friend Natalia but I've lost contact with her for some months. I also agree that she has a great voice. It's not a problem whether she sings in Polish or English. However, if only she is 'braver' to try a different kind of music or make her original character more distinguishable, not just following the latest trend, I'm sure that she will be better. Maybe, it's not her, it's her producer or the recording company who want her to sing that music. Some reviews in Amazon about her are not so delightful. Well, to have a good quality pearl, a clam should be hurted. I'm sure, that in the future, when she finds her 'real her', she will be shining. About Basia, you're right, it's a waiting game. And our hope that Natalia's success will remind the world to Basia, let's hope for that though it's like a single burning candle in a pitch dark night. While we're waiting for her, why don't we sing "I don't wanna wait in vain" (Annie Lenox), "I've been waiting for you" (Boys Next Door), or other songs with wait- ing inside. I'm here, will sing my own song with gamelan music in my head entitled "Waiting tresna jalaran saka kulina" from an old Javanese proverb "Witing tresna jalaran saka kulina" (Love is growing when you get used to something or someone). To Krystyna, thanks for clearing the name Natasha and Natalia. When I read the message from Fred, I was puzzled with that name. I thought, it was her diminutive name, just like when we're talking about Basia and Barbara, and I had a thought to ask you about that but you've answered my question before I ask you! Talking about name, I remember Joe (raburabu) who wrote about naming our children or pets Basia. I tell you, if God will give me a chance to have my own family (and if I will be not too stupid to take that chance just like I always be), I will name my daughter Basia though I'm not so sure that she will be a singer. The problem is that, if I will have twin daughters, I will get a difficulty to decide which one will be Basia. Or maybe I will name them Basia #1 and Basia #2...:-)... That's the little problem. The biggest question is that, who will be her/their mother? Nevermind! Don't answer this. I'll find her out by myself. About my 'stupidity' I give you an example from my experience so all of you will get an idea. One day, my four friends and I were hanging out at the campus after the morning class. We're sitting around near the parking lot. Suddenly, two attractive girls were walking along the path among the motorcycles. At the same time, a classic Norton 500 was cruising along the same path. All my friends shouted, "Wooooww...., gorgeous!" I also said, "Yeah, and the engine sounds really great!" My friends looked at me instantly and looked puzzled. Realizing that, I asked them, "Are you talking about those girls?" They answered, "Yes!" Then, I said, "My goodness! I thought you're talking about that Norton 500." It's clear that sometimes I have a different idea when I'm faced to two interest- ing objects. Maybe it's because I was taught to respect women so I have to control my mouth carefully when talking about/to them....I don't know.... Czesc, Desianto F. I think the info about it will be hard to find unless if some of us have sharp memories about that year. Maybe we can ask the administrator of the site about that. Desianto F.
