I'm a musician originally from Virginia Beach, VA now living in the NYC area. Victor Wooten and the rest of the Wooten brothers are from Newport News, VA which is "across the water" from Virginia Beach. I had the opportunity to play with Victor and the rest of his family from time to time back in the '80's. His family is as talented as he is and also very down to earth people...musicians! A lot of great musicians have come from that area (I'm not including myself in that category, unfortunately). Ella Fitzgerald, Bruce Hornsby, Steve Wilson (alto sax player from OTB, Chick Corea, etc.), Billy Drummond (drummer for Steve Kuhn, Michel LeGrand, etc), Karen Briggs (violinist with Yani...not my cup of tea, but). Speaking of great acts...I recently saw Arturo Sandoval in concert. Not only is he a virtuoso trumpeter, he is also a fabulous concert pianist, percussionist, and singer! He has to be one of the greatest musicians today. That is my input for today. In keeping with the subject of this site...I'm sure the Basia would agree and if Basia should be reading this and needs a keyboard player, I'm available. Recently laid off from AT&T. Regards!
