Jaya Suprana is not one of Jazz musician but he really can play piano very well in many styles. Mostly, he performs solo. He arranges a lot of Indonesian folk songs and national songs into a different and beautiful new styles and I love his performances. I watch him on TV every Monday night because he has his own show once a week. He is the director of Jamu Jago, a company in traditional herbal medicine, the director of Indonesian Record Museum, and he is the 'founder' of Kelirumologi, a kind of 'science' in studying false assumptions / things which are accepted as true by people without knowing that they're false because they have been accepted as 'true' (keliru = false). His TV show is about all things in Kelirumologi, and of course, all is discussed in Kelirumologi style. He certainly has a good sense of humor...:-) The good thing is, he lives in my city, Semarang, Central Java. I also want to add some name of Indonesian Jazz musicians/singers. Luluk Purwanto (violin player), Tohpati (guitarist), Idang Rasyidi (he can play many instruments - performed in Jak Jazz with Lee Ritenour and Dave Koz), Benny Likumahuwa (trombone), Nunung Wardiman (singer),and Iga Mawarni (singer). The last has a deep voice, almost Basia like, but not strong enough. The last international Jazz performance that I can remember is in Bali (World Peace Music), a few months ago. I enjoyed Dave Koz's performance on TV, playing an Indonesian song entitled "Aku Cinta Kepadamu (I Love You)". Thanks for your attention. Sorry for disturbing. Desianto F. I got to see her live in Boston (at the Paradise) a couple of years ago and was very impressed, despite a weak backing band. She's got a great voice and excellent stage presence. Her single "Snow on the Sahara" got a lot of airplay here in the States and the CD is very good. And, omg, is she a gorgeous woman, or what! Just curious on your take(opinion) on her. cheers, Bill >From: "Desianto F.
