The CDs are expensive, but perhaps valuable to some collectors. Go to: http://www.hyper-music.co.uk/basia.html I'm not selling them, so this post is not intended to be commercial. I'm only providing this capsule for your interest. Thumbnail CD photos can be found on that same Web page BASIA "More Fire Than Flame" rare 1993 Japanese 3-Trk promo CD single incl. "Masquerade (mixed by Phil Harding)" & "Come To Heaven (mixed by Phil Harding)" p/s + OBI - ESCA5898 #24.99 \ $37.49 BASIA "The Best Remixes"very rare 1990 Japanese 6-Trk promo picture CD incl. "Cruising For Bruising (extended mix)", "From Now On (band version)", "Run For Cover (extended remix)", "Promises (extended french mix)", "New Day For You (extended version)", "Baby You're Mine (street version)" p/s - ESCA5164 #49.99 \ $74.99 ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 15:40:23 -0400 From: "John J. I guess I got a bargain? :) I wonder if the Phil Harding remixes on "Masquerade" and "Come To Heaven" are club dance mixes are not. Does anyone know? Japanese CDs have always been overpriced period. When I lived in Japan even an import version of a same album sold in Japan is often around 2/3 the price of the Japanese-made version CD. I guess the original "More Fire Than Flame" would've sold for about 1200 yen, less than US$10, and the best remixes around 2500 yen (around US$20?). raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 15:42:21 -0400 From: "John J. The art on the actual CD of "The Best Remixes" of the one that I own is different than the one on the web page--it's just a brown-yellowish background with brown letters on it (no picture). raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 18 Jul 2003 15:06:21 -0700 (PDT) From: Leslie Osborn Subject: Re: "Rare" Basia Recordings > Oops! Joe! Wow, guys, it's Joe! :-D Actually, I am glad you said this, because this is a PERFECT segue into something I wanted to ask all of you to do. If you go to http://members.tripod.com/~Basiafan and you find that what you have is different from what is listed on the site, please email me the details, the catalog number, and most importantly scans of your anomaly. Check the 'More Images' section if you don't see your disc in the usual places--most of the scans of the labels are separate from the cover sections. (Joe, I did find yours in there so don't worry about that particular one) I'm going to be diving into the listings on the site in earnest as soon as my current mag issue closes--it's eating my life currently-- and all the information I can get that we don't already have is good. As far as the value is concerned, they are cool, but not $75 cool. Reminds me of the $57 BOB cassingle that I bought for $5. Those Japanese Best Remixes were bleeding from Tower and Virgin a few years ago, and you could get them for a song. More Fire Than Flame is more rare, but you see them on eBay on occasion. My opinion: if you are spending that much on Basia, you are spending TOO much. In ten years of collecting I've never spent more than $40 on anything--and that was in 1992 to get Best Remixes imported from Canada, before we had Best Buy and the like in my area. So to reiterate: send your bits and bobbles to marzenie_99@yahoo.com If you have anything of interest that isn't a recording per se, send it along as well, 'cause you never know. - --Leslie Editor, Basia: The International Discography __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? It's manufactured in Indonesia (under license) and it costs me around US$6.00. I also have some Basia's album in tapes manufactured in Indonesia. One of them has a somewhat funny typing error on the booklet and the booklet of the other was printed in Australia. Should I send their info/scans to you, or shouldn't I? Desianto F.
