I guess it was twenty years ago that the first MB singles came out. Way back then nobody had CD players and MTV was new. MB releases "Whose side are you on" a new, fun, bouncy sort of thing on the heals of the midi / techno revolution and of course the new romantic era. Disco died years earlier as well as punk. the world was empty. Sorrow, much sorrow. And then here comes this little English group, Matt Bianco. Who the hell is this? Two listens latter, wow. I had all the bass lines learned and was ready for some new covers in the band I was in called, "Mazar-e-sharif" a village recently bombed by us. Basia hooked me way back then. I've got a thing for girl singers. My two cents. Tom ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2003 16:50:08 -0700 From: "Steve Richardson" Subject: Matt Bianco I guess I have a little trouble getting excited about Basia in a Matt Bianco reunion...didn't she just do one album with that group? While I liked it, except for "Half a Minute" Basia didn't seem to have much to do other than background vocals. After being the star of the show on her own it would seem strange to have her return to a subordinate role in Matt Bianco. I remember George Harrison saying - why would I want the Beatles to get back together and return to fighting to get one song per album, after doing his own solo albums. I'd think Basia would feel the same way with Matt Bianco, unless she returned as a full equal in the group. Provided that the info delivered to the list is real, which I am not yet convinced of yet. I guess 5+ years on this list has turned me into a cynic-- "I'll believe it when I see it" was the first phrase that came to mind. My take? We'll have a better chance of seeing Danny reunite with MB than Basia. - --Leslie __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? SBC Yahoo! Oooh, syntax error. :-) I meant that Danny is more likely to reunite with MB than Basia is-- NOT that Danny is more likely to reunite with MB than with Basia!
