I apologize for using this forum for a personal request, but the job market is very tight right now and I hope you might be understanding as I seek to exhaust every possible resource. I will only make this post one time. For a variety of reasons completely unrelated to job performance, I find myself in need of pursuing another career opportunity. I feel that my background and experience offer unique and strong qualifications for positions in management, training or writing, all backed by professional achievements. Relocation poses no problems. I possess nearly 20 years experience as director and lead educator of a highly successful business and technology-focused baccalaureate degree program at a major university. In addition to my management responsibilities, my university duties included extensive curriculum design and stand-up classroom teaching, specifically including instruction in proprietary software and the operation of complex, computer-based equipment and hardware. I also taught courses in entertainment law and contracts, copyright/licensing and music business. My education includes 35 hours toward a JD. I know how to interact successfully with people of diverse backgrounds and technical expertise. I have extensive training, project management and general computer experience. I served as both a supervisor and trainer of both teaching and non-teaching staff within my university department. This included training on proprietary university software systems and policies covering: student information, grades and academic records, purchasing/bidding, fund/general accounting, payroll and others. My background includes my current position as Executive Director of SPARS: The Society of Professional Audio Recording Services, an association focused on the business challenges of multimedia facility ownership, management and operations. I have full leadership and management responsibility for this group A significant portion of my career has also involved industry relations and service in professional organizations. Over the past 15 years I have provided leadership and direction in national organizations including the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences (NARAS/Grammy's) and Audio Engineering Society, International (AES). This included national leadership positions and committee service. For a position in business or technical writing, I offer extensive experience writing business, technical and training materials, policies, procedures, bids, contract parameters and other documents. I currently both edit and contribute to a monthly column running in a national audio trade publication. General, technical and business communication have been a constant part of my career. Samples are available upon request. I have managed technical facilities and either chaired or served on numerous committees charged with facility issues, including needs assessment and design considerations. I also have designed and supervised four major home renovations. I feel my training and management experience, technical background, strength in problem solving, effectiveness as a public speaker, out-of-the-box creativity, writing capabilities and leadership-by-example style allow me to function at a high level of effectiveness. I am an organized, focused and technically-savvy individual, capable of delivering quality services and programming in an organization. I bring energy, enthusiasm and a quality work ethic to every project I undertake. My family has a history of success in retail, insurance and marketing. I can furnish risumis focused on either management, training or writing. Columns I have recently written for industry trade publications outlining the achievements I have had with SPARS are also available upon request. I would greatly appreciate being thought of for any positions you feel might make a good match with my background. Please contact me off-list using the information below. I also appreciate your indulgence and understanding regarding my intrusion upon the normal topic of this listserv. I now return you to our regularly scheduled program. :) Thank you again, Larry Lipman Llipman@misouth.rr.com (901) 747-3111 ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V8 #20 **************************
