I do find both his lyrics and musical presentation very accessible -- from what I can tell, he smartly writes songs in his "key" and really makes the emotions come through. If he comes through Texas, I'd like to go and see him. On another note entirely, Houston, TX finally has a JAZZ station again (I think it is 97.8 or close to that).... I caught it channel hopping on a trip last month -- one thing that really caught my attention was that the station was supporting *Anita Baker* who was out on tour..Ms. Baker's ticket sales were doing so well, btw, that they had started a second night appearance...... here I am wishing that Basia's CD would come on through (even self-published on the internet!) and that she would be touring....and that this station would be promoting her in Houston. Thanks dude. :-) That history link has irked me for the longest time because I've been aware of it for a couple years but had no idea what to make of the language. I remember Ray said that Perfect was pretty bad, and in the Napster days I downloaded a track or two--from the way-post-Basia all-dude lineup days, and I gotta say--Ray was right. Very very MOR '70's "rock." Gads. (incidentally I also found an Alibabki live track with 99.99%-sure Basia vocals which are pretty cool for the fact that her style was present even then, though her voice was somewhat different. I'll post it when I figure out how to upload it onto my site :-) ) Finally, you gotta love the picture for the fact that the men look so hopelessly '70s with that facial hair, while the classic ladies escape unscathed. They were around a looooong time and Basia was only in it for a couple years. Basia on "Samotna" is a bit different from the Basia we knew 15 or so odd years later--remember that she was a kid when in Alibabki, so she hasn't blossomed vocally just yet.
