Six music retailers are getting together to provide downloadable music. http://www.echo.com/ It will be interesting to see how this works. un abrazo, juan ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 27 Jan 2003 09:51:32 -0800 From: "Rob Perkins" Subject: Re: download music > It will be interesting to see how this works. Based on how they've behaved so far, it will probably work by overcharging for music, over-restriction of the ability to move a purchased song onto this or that device, and an underestimation of the level of determination people have to exercise their fair use rights. And, of course, since artists are no more than a nuisance to music distribution companies, they'll again completely ignore the fact that when people have a good experience, they *want* to pay and support the artists they love. It might be different, but I won't hold my breath. Rob ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V8 #11 **************************
