I've been on the list since 1998. I have had the great fortune of seeing Basia twice in San Diego....simply amazing!!!! An incident that happened with Basia will always stay stuck in my mind: Basia was set to perform in San Diego, when at the last moment she had taken ill. She promised everyone in the audience that she would return....& in good faith she did, several months later. TOTAL CLASS ACT!!! Her music is inspiring....enough said. Be well, Monica San Diego, CA ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 10:03:38 -0800 (PST) From: Leslie Osborn Subject: RE: Basia as wedding songs...... > I used to DJ wedding receptions, largely because I > was so amazed at how bad > so many DJ's out there already are. Yeah, wow, I'm lucky I didn't have to deal with the "Love Stinks" end of things. Her biggest transgression was showing up at a '20's-'30s themed wedding, being asked to play like music in the jazz and blues range, and reinterpreting "jazz" to mean, "Hey, I'll play 'Duotones,' and then I'll leave for an hour!" (and ya'll know how I feel about Kenny G) Luckily I had made her CDs that saved the vibe, and luckily I was the only person who noticed or cared, oddly enough. - --Leslie HotJobs - Search new jobs daily now http://hotjobs.yahoo.com/ ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Nov 2002 10:08:55 -0800 From: Stephen Ylvisaker Subject: Re: Member roll call Stephen, here! Recently of Concord, CA, now living in Pleasant Hill, CA (next door). I have been a fan since Time & Tide. I've been to two of the Lady's concerts, first at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, with Ottmar Leibert, second at the *Concord* Pavillion, with Spyro Gyra, this time courtesy of KKSF radio, with back stage passes! Basia is one the most congenial women I've ever met. I've been a member of this list since about 1996. I no longer remember exactly. By the way, the Live In Paris CD and DVD will give you the flavor of the tour. The song lineup was virtually the same and it's an excellent recording (audio-wise). Analogous to BOB. If you attended a TSI concert, the live album helps you relive the event. Very casual at that show, it was almost like being at a rehearsal. Really a great show. I guess they are glamorizing her more every album. I almost got more of a tomboy vibe from her, like the makeup and fancy dresses aren't really her style.
