I thought I'd share my thoughts on the whole new Basia CDs topic. Like everybody else, I would LOVE to hear new recordings of ANY type, but I will not believe that anything is coming until I have something in my hands. Too many times I've had my hopes shredded when my favorite artists' new releases have been postponed. Case in point: I am not only a huge Basia fan, but I am also a huge Alice Cooper fan (!). About eight years ago, it was announced that a career-spanning 4 disc box set - "The Life And Crimes Of Alice Copper" was coming out. The date was set (same day as Paul Simon's box, by the way), and I had money in hand. And then five years later, it came out. Legal wranglings and label bullshit. The point of the whole thing is, I hate to be a complete pesimist (sp?) but I'm not gonna get my hopes up. I've learned my lesson. P.S. - I have Basia moments daily. Jim P. and Kamille, thanks for the advice - She deserves it and Yearning........hmmmmm (will ponder these). OK, if she won't come out and sing at my wedding, would it be too much to have a new song to dance to at the wedding???? Any other ideas out there?? I think I've been on the Basia list since 1997 or 1998 or such when I was still living in Japan. Live now in Cincinnati, OH, with my two cats Willie and Basia. (It is kind of funny to tell my Japanese friends that my cat is named Basia because the way Basia is pronounced sounds like the Japanese word for "horse-drawn carriage.") Starting listening to Basia all the time after I bought "Time & Tide" at the college bookstore, basically because I loved the song "Time & Tide" and new a few other songs I had seen videos for on VH1. My love affair started from there--especially when I got to see her perform live in Cincinnati! I cannot WAIT until she tours again. raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 3 Nov 2002 22:02:13 EST From: Samurai27@aol.com Subject: Re: Member roll call Hi all. I have been a Basia fan since 93. I have been on this list since 96 and have been frustrated like the rest of you. I started listening to Peter white and joined his fan club and it has paid off. I have been to at least five of his concerts and received word about Basia on Thursday from Joan his fan club president. Go Basia. Let hope this is going to be it. Any ideas for a label? She will need one. denis with one "N" ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 03 Nov 2002 22:38:18 -0500 From: "Paul S. Fish" Subject: An Almost Basia Moment I haven't heard any Basia songs in public recently, but I did hear a version of "Waters Of March" over the end credits of "Comedian", Jerry Seinfeld's documentary. It was a good, bilingual, version - but not nearly as good as Basia's. The movie was pretty good, by the way.
