Where is Basis now? Are the rumors of a new CD based in any truth? How many members are in this group? I'm so THRILLED to know that I'm not the only soul in the universe pining for more from Basia. I've worn out several cassette tapes and CD's waiting . . . Now my 11-year-old daughter loves Basia and there is no other artist like her -- her style has never been replicated! Thank you for your patience while I get up to speed! Others can probably give you more detail, but the last I remember hearing was that Basia is living in England with her husband, visiting Poland on occasion, and has perhaps laid down some tracks for a new album. Peter White told one of our members that he played guitar on some new tracks and Danny White told another member he sent some new songs over to Basia, but both of those reports are a couple of years old. Or maybe four years old. Some members of the list wrote letters to Basia several months ago trying to get news - and a new album - but I don't believe anyone ever heard from her. I wish Alfred would just drive over, knock on her door, and ask what's going on. Take a listen and see. > un abrazo, > juan > Hi Juan, I remember picking up this file a couple of years ago when Napster was still functioning. I didn't think it was Basia then, and I don't now. Searching the web brings up a group called Mondo Kane with Georgie Fame (remember him from the 60's British invasion? - "Yeh Yeh", "Get Away", "Ballad Of Bonnie & Clyde") in connection with this song, but I have yet to find a sample of the track. Hey, there's a Basia connection! Matt Bianco did a version of "Yeh Yeh", but I believe it was after she left the group. Best regards, Dennis (the other one, with two n's) PS: Welcome Kamille! ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 4 Oct 2002 19:27:59 EDT From: JPovlock@aol.com Subject: New York Afternoon Basia?? NOT!! I knew that in a New York Minute :) The musicans played her style extremely well. But it was a pretty enjoyable song. I'd like to hear a whole CD of this style music, no matter who did it. The singers were not quite at a professional level. Jim P. ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V7 #98 **************************
