My name is Ed and this the Mrs.' address we use on the list. I know Leslie Brown is also a No.Cal gal. There seems to be a few of us as was stated earlier. Cool!Wish we could get some more airplay for our lovely lady. I spoke to one of the DJs' @ KSSJ and was told they couldn't play her. Wouldn't give me any details either. - ----- Original Message ----- From: To: Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2002 01:31 PM Subject: Re: basia-digest V7 #24 > > I live in Elk Grove California. I never thought the vocals were very flattering to what a great treasure her voice is--as if she is screaming the lyrics or something in the chorus. My favorite songs include "Time & Tide" (a must--the song that made me fall in love with her music in the first place) and Broadway's "Half A Minute." raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 17 Feb 2002 23:37:28 -0500 From: "Steve O'Hearn" Subject: RE: Least Favorite Basia Songs--and favorites I'm with you on "Time and Tide", but I also LOVE "Brave New Hope", that to me epitomizes her lyrically. But I have to say - I'm not crazy about her version of Stevie Wonder's "Until You Come Back", or whatever the title is. In the interview portion of her "New Day" video, she talks about it, and says they used to do a cover version in concert that went over so well, she decided to put it on their next CD, but - chose not to use that very popular version so she could do something different. Has anyone ever heard the cover version she's talking about? Is it better than the version she recorded on London Warsaw New York? And is there a recording of this earlier version she refers to? - - Steve > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org]On Behalf Of > John Palcher > Sent: Sunday, February 17, 2002 11:19 PM > To: Basia List > Subject: Least Favorite Basia Songs--and favorites > > > > I'll probably be pelted to death for my opinion, but my least favorite has > always been "Brave New Hope." I am not, either. The live version kicks the pants off the original, but sadly not everyone heard it as much. > Has anyone ever heard the cover version she's > talking about? She is (I believe) referring to the remixes, one is of course on the Brave New Hope EP, the second was the single version, which was very slightly remixed with a stronger backbeat (although not quite as strong as the window-buster on BNH) than the one on the LWNY album. And, yes, I would say they are better, though I know many of you out there would disagree. ;-) I personally have always been a fan of the BNH version--it really fit in with that early '90s bumpin'-in-my-5.0 school of music. ;-P Personally I find it a relief that she too saw fault in the album version. :-) - --Leslie, with geek-charged particles.
