Hi! YES! we finally have managed to get the digest back to life, and not only back to life, but with some pretty interesting topics as well! I'ts almost like the "good old days" when we had something specific to discuss (like the time around the release of CH) Nice to see that people are still around and willing to "jump in" (-being helpfull with the old Che-Che-Lev-ska thing and all!) All that has made me feel young and full of hope again ;-) and since the Biggin Hill adress apparently is still working........... let's all write her a letter and tell her that she has to come out of early retirement!! Actually when I met my wife here in Denmark 4 years ago she was really surprised when she discovered that I was a Basia-fan! At that time she had lived outside Poland for 6 years (USA and Norway) and all the Basia-fans she had met outside Poland at that time were somehow related to Poland. I on the other hand was surprised to discover that this beautiful woman that I met at work (and who I didn't dare to speak to for weeks and who actually looks a lot like Basia! -scary but true!) turned out to be polish AND a hardcore Basia-fan! I instantly fell in love with her! Man it's good to be back! Yes, that's the "New Day" video, which is currently on sale at Tower Records (along with pretty much all of their videos, I think they are clearing them all out in favor of DVD's). It's the Time and Tide video, and at the very beginning, she's shown in a small nightclub, the phone rings, a club staff guy answers, speaks briefly, looks around, and the phone is apparently for Basia as he calls out "Basie", as in Count Basie. But she corrects him and says "it's Ba-sha". > -----Original Message----- > From: owner-basia@smoe.org [mailto:owner-basia@smoe.org]On Behalf Of > whroberts@iquest.net > Sent: Tuesday, February 05, 2002 8:40 AM > To: Neil Jackson; basia@smoe.org > Subject: Re: Pronunciation? > > > > >Max > > > >I think you'll find it's pronounced 'Basher' . > > > >My own wife is Polish and helped with that. > > > >Neil > > > > I bought a collection of Basia videos from Barnes + Noble and on > one of them > Basia corrects someone's pronunciation of her name and says it's "Basha". ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 5 Feb 2002 09:52:12 est From: whroberts@iquest.net Subject: RE: Pronunciation? >>Yes, that's the "New Day" video, which is currently on sale at Tower Records >(along with pretty much all of their videos, I think they are clearing them >all out in favor of DVD's). Fish" Subject: Trey Lorenz I stumbled across a VH1 special on Mariah Carey tonight. There was a segment on when she did her "Unplugged" CD and sand a duet with Trey Lorenz (who later sang the beautiful "She Deserves It" with Basia) and it got me to wondering...whatever happened to him? I know that around '93-'94 he put out a solo CD (on Sony, no less), but after that he just sort of disappered. Any ideas?
