The album/CD is "Come Dream With Me". Check it out; Amazon or look for her MP3s. Check out her debut album also; "Never Never Land". She does jazz standards with a twist. You should enjoy. Also, I've said it before, but I got hooked on Isabelle Boulay while in France. I give her "Mieux Qu'ici-bas" album as much play as my Basia six-pack now and I don't understand 99% of the words! lol John Mithors@aol.com wrote: > I found a radio station that plays Basia songs!!!! Another version I bought for a dollar was done duet style with Al Jarreau and Oletta Adams on a Dave Grusin/various artists tribute CD to Antonio Carlos Jobim(writer of WOM). It's a much slower tempo than Basia's but a much easier pace to listen to the song if you desire to memorize the words!! Astrud, I believe is the same Astrud that Basia's song "Astrud" is written about. Interesting a song written about someone yet only using their name in the title ofthe song and not in the lyrics. I always hoped Basia would express her admiration for Astrud by inviting her in the studio for a duet one day. Interesting a song written about someone yet only using >their name in the title ofthe song and not in the lyrics. I've always thought "Astrud" was a brilliant little song, since most of the lyrics are references to songs that Ms. Gilberto has sung over the years. I went on a Astrud Gilberto spree after _Time and Tide_, and I still listen to her music at times. If you want a nice primer, I'd suggest the "Compact Jazz" CD as a nice collection of her better works. - -- Ben Combee Techwood Broadcasting Foundation, Austin Bureau Chief ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 29 Jan 2002 13:20:02 -0500 From: Bob Rumsby Subject: Re: station I found that plays Basia songs Heck there is even a version by David Byrne and Marisa Monte on the Redhot & Rio album bfn BobR At 12:23 PM 1/29/02 -0500, you wrote: >Hey! I have been a fan of hers since I heard her on a station in New York in 1996. I've found, over the years, that she's "relatively" unknown in America, however, she's extremely popular in her native Brazil. I have all of her music, one of the CD's that is only available from Brazil, and all of her music videos, which are only available in Brazil. Why am I mentioning this on the Basia e-mail site? Because, like Basia, Marisa is extremely talented. These are two artists that I would take vacation from work to see live; it would be an honor. By the way, for anyone who would be interested, here is Marisa's web site in English: www.uol.com.br/marisamonte/english/index-f.htm Ray - ----- Original Message ----- From: "Bob Rumsby" To: Sent: 2002 January 29 1020 Subject: Re: station I found that plays Basia songs > > Heck there is even a version by David Byrne and Marisa Monte > on the Redhot & Rio album > > bfn > BobR > > At 12:23 PM 1/29/02 -0500, you wrote: > > >Hey!
