"The Sweetest Illusion" She chose this one because I was a die hard fusion type who just crossed over from rock. Being a learned drummer, I was impressed by the crispness of Andy Gangadeen's drumwork. I listened more. The samba style rythem of "An Olive Tree" is very intriguing to me. The majority of this album while being light/lively in structure is still complex enough and engineered so well in the recording as to draw more of my interest. I've listend ( still listen to them weekly) to the 3 albums of hers' we have and am looking for some new stuff soon ( I hope ). Maybe she can come to the US for a while and hang with the Rippingtons, ( I mean heck if she can do some work with Spyro Gyra, why not?). Greg Choquico could use her vocals too. Just a dream! Fish" Subject: First Basia song The first song I ever heard from Basia actually wasn't a song, it was the video for "New Day For You". I was channel surfing one day back in 1990 and I stumbled across VH1 and decided to see who this pretty, jazzy woman was. At that point I was totally emersed in the late eighties - early nineties Heavy Metal scene (Skid Row, Def Leppard, Winger...) so I surprised myself when I didn't change the station but kept on watching. It turned out to be a special on Basia they were running to promote "London Warsaw New York". The interview footage they used is the same as the "A New Day" video collection. They showed a clip of "Who's Side Are You On" and I realized that I'd heard her many times before on Muzak. Up until that point I really heated that song and thought that the woman who sang on it had a really "whinny voice" (those were my exact words). Anyway, the very next day I bought "Time And Tide" and by the end of the week I bought "London Warsaw New York". Now, here I am, nearly 12 years later and Skid Row and Winger have basically fallen by the wayside (I still love Def Lep) and I own a grand total of 37 Basia CDs, 9 cassettes, 7 LPs, and about 10 7" singles. All are eighter official releases, imports, singles, promotional items and such. I've also got two posters, 8 promotional photos, the press kits for "London Warsaw New York" and "Brave New Hope", 2 tour programs, 2 t-shirts, a limited edition print of the "Sweetest Illusion" portrait and I've ssen her twice. I guess maybe I have a bit of an obsession. :-) One day I hope to meet Basia and have her sign my eventual restraining order! :-) What cool/rare items do others have? It was a beautiful night in California that evening and I drank cheap white wine and sang along to every song I knew the words to. It was heaven. Netscape is relatively safe - it will prompt before downloading or executing the file from an infected web site. The ultimate safety setting is to disable Javascript. However so many sites require Javascript that this may be inconvenient. If you are running a vulnerable version of Internet Explorer (IE), the CERT/CC recommends applying patch for the "Automatic Execution of Embedded MIME Types" vulnerability. You may update your browser to the latest patches for IE5 which includes the mime executable patch at - http://www.microsoft.com/technet/treeview/default.asp?url=/technet/security/ bulletin/MS01-027.asp After this patch, your browser will at least prompt before downloading and executing the worm. You probably already have this patch if you regularly get Automatic Windows Updates. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "ERNEST L GUNTER" To: Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2001 4:17 PM Subject: Re: First Basia Song > > Hey guys...
