Hi All, I have asked Anne my partner to stop writing on here. There are a few on here who love the upset and have a gunho mentallity. There is a chance now for a united front against Terror actions and we here are all on the same side, though we may have different idea's on how to stop such acts. I am pleased with the response so far and I hope Tony Blair and George Bush can have a two pronged action plan. Improve relations in the middle east and bring those who planned this act of evil to punishment. This will be a long hard road but with resolve I feel sure progress can be made. What about Basia maybe several of us who live local to her can drop her a line and ask if she is planning anything new, what do you think ? I have seen the following: * Baby you're mine * Cruising for bruising (a very moody video, featuring Basia and Danny, which made me associate Cruising For Bruising with autumn to the degree where it ALWAYS ends on my walkman tape between September and November. It is on the current one too, alongside Massive Attack, New Order and Bjork). * Until you come back to me (live video with some New York - I guess - footage) * Drunk on love * Yearning (directed by: Howard Greenhalgh - I wonder how many albums did she have to sell to pay for *that* vid). On the other hand, I've never seen the video for "New Day for You"!!! Oh yes, I've also seen a Matt Bianco video featuring Basia... but which one was it? I think it was partly on a "studio beach", partly in a hotel room. Could it be "Half a minute"? The first time I heard Basia on the radio was 1987. The song was "Time and Tide". I was involved with a lady that I would later marry. Basia had a soothing voice and a positive message to her music. I had to have more, so I bought her first cd, "Time and Tide", promptly copied it onto audio cassette, and played it in the car all the time. Some time later I learned that I had already heard Basia's voice singing with the group "Matt Bianco". I was quite pleased, and eagerly looked forward to her next release, just as I do today. - -- Dan Meyer ------------------------------ Date: Tue, 18 Sep 2001 08:34:25 -0700 From: John Flood Subject: Re: First Basia Song The song that made me awaken to BASIA was MILES AWAY, but it wasn't did BMG had the BROADWAY CD in their 1.99 sale flyer that I decided to give it a try. Since I joined this list, however many years ago it was, I've left only once, and then only because I didn't have internet access. But I don't like what's been happening here the last several days. It's become just another forum for people to insult and accuse each other. Asking for civility seems to be useless. So at least until Basia delivers some new material, I'm out of here.
