Unfortunately - I've never seen her live. But I did see the face of a terrified woman at Food Lion (a grocery chain) a couple days ago. She pulled her grocery cart away - the child riding in it was laughing and pointing. At me. I realized that as I was choosing the tarter sauce, the store intercom had me dancing and singing along - "Baby, you're mine, you are blowing my mind We are two of a kind, Baby, you're really mine" un abrazo, juan ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Feb 2001 09:47:17 -0500 From: "Paul S. I don't know if any little children have ever pointed and giggled, but I've caught myself singing and dancing to Basia in many stores. This list has been quiet for some time so I would like to start a new thread - can peopl name thier top ten Basia songs? Mine - 1) "Cruising For Bruising" 2) "Drunk On Love" 3) "Run For Cover" 4) "Copernicus (Live)" 5) "New Day For You" 6) "She Deserves It" 7) "Time And Tide" 8) "Prime Time TV" 9) "Brave New Hope" 10) "Promises" Paitently waitng... Paul - ---- "Well then, put on your jammies and I'll read you a story!" With the release of their ninth album "Rico", Matt Bianco will be playing from 26.3.01 to 31.3.01 at Ronnie Scotts in Birmingham, UK with their full 10 piece tour band. Hope to see as many of you guys there as possible, Dirk ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Feb 2001 13:20:55 EST From: VOKALYZER@aol.com Subject: Re: Basia moment Since I'm new to the group (relatively...seems like a lot of you UK folk actually KNOW each other), I shall happily provide my top ten list. Mind you, the songs are not actually ranked in any particular order. I keep seeing references to Matt Bianco, which I take it is a band formerly fronted by our diva. Can someone of you provide more info? Can their music be found here in California? Lastly, I was fortunate enough to have seen Basia during the Sweetest Illusion Tour...how lucky, huh? I look forward to my next encounter with the lady! So, here's the list... Astrud Reward Copernicus Drunk On Love My Cruel Ways Until You Come Back To Me New Day For You The Prayer of a Happy Housewife Yearning Cruising For Bruising And I could have easily provided ten more, and ten more after that... ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Feb 2001 14:25:52 -0600 From: "Jim C" Subject: Re: Basia moment, MB // Can their music be found here in California? // You might find current Matt Bianco CD's at your local retailer. The MB album to which Basia and Danny contributed is "Whose Side Are You On" and is listed for $17.99 at www.cdnow.com. Below is an album review pasted from CDNOW; I assume it was done shortly after the album came out back in the 80's. Unfortunately the reviewer did not mention "Half a minute", my personal favorite tune. Sorry about the name comment, but at least the reviewer spelled it correctly. ~Jim // Vocal harmonies are back in fashion ("Well we know where we're going...") and jazzy pop (Everything But The Girl, Sade) as well, so a fusion of the two is a natural. Matt Bianco come off as a hipper Manhattan Transfer, Mark Reilly's Paul Young-ish vocals are out front on most cuts with Basia Trzetrzelewska (don't ask) supplying the harmonies-either layered or alone. Classy. Top cuts: "Whose Side Are You On," "Get Out Of Your Lazy Bed," "More Than I Can Bear," "Matts Mood II." // _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 18 Feb 2001 15:45:13 -0800 From: Denis Naranjo Subject: Basia CD Info Asking someone on the list to reply back to me direct (not the list) re: the "Time and Tides" CD.
