It took me a millennium to reply but finally I'm back here :) I agree with Stefan - Basia did invent her own genre, which is more or less what I love her for. Still, she has such a great voice it's almost a shame not to use it for dance music! The Taro Hakase collaboration ain't enough, the Roger Sanchez mixes of Drunk On Love ain't enough, the America ain't enough (whoops, I got carried away). I know that some of you get toothache even thinking of a remote possibility of Basia-over-a-drum-machine but, well, EBTG did this and the world didn't end. Re: Bjork - she sings a duet with Thom Yorke on Selmasongs (wonderful album but it took me ages to buy because the snake in my pocket bites me really hard when it sees 7 songs for the full price) and there's a Catherine Deneuve appearance too :) And yes, I love her. (that is, Bjork, not Deneuve, although the latter has her charm too...) PS. Go see 'Dancer In The Dark' while you can. Just don't think it's any other musical and take tissues with you. First listen to "Sumer Samba (so nice)" gave me chills. No, the world didn't end, but their career sure did. Established musicians who latch on to the latest trend just sound silly and desperate. Hopefully we'll get the real Ben and Tracey back eventually. ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V6 #3 *************************
