My name is David Nash and I live in Portland Oregon. This evening, my family and I went to see Ottmar Liebert perform at our local zoo. If you're not familiar with Ottmar or his band, Luna Negra, they're from the Santa Fe area and they play a style of contemporary flamenco. I'm a big fan and have seen him perform several times over the years. So what, you ask? It struck me that the very first time I saw (or even heard of) him was when he opened for Basia in the early 90's. I think it was November of either '91 or '92 when I saw Basia at CW Post College (Tilles Center) on Long Island in New York. I'm sure of the month, but not the year, as the concert was a 'birthday present' for my wife. Yeah right :) It was an amazing performance and made my top 10 live performance list of all time, but it's also fair to say that I was particularly infatuated with Basia back then. I also remember hearing Basia perform Masquerade for the first time that night. Anybody remember that concert or that tour? It seems like a past lifetime when I could look forward to a Basia concert or new album. I wait, and wait, and wait, like many of you, for the '2nd coming' Cheers, -dn ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 26 Jul 2000 20:57:58 -0500 From: "Diana Knight" Subject: Re: basia-digest V5 #80 Birmingham England... I saw Ottmar and Basia on a chilly evening at the Greek Theater in Berkeley, CA. Great show! I, also, was intatuated with Basia (still am) before that show. Better yet, what 'sound' would you like to hear against Basia vocal? (Instrumentation). I'd love to hear Basia against an Enya comp. myself. I'm with joy and full up with Basia music. I've enough to last me a lifetime, but Basia, if you're out there: COME ON HOME. Love to all, Stefan ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V5 #82 **************************
