[TOM9221673@aol.com] ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Date: Wed, 19 Jul 2000 09:54:45 EDT From: JPovlock@aol.com Subject: (no subject) It was with great misgivings that I flipped the switch last Thursday, turning on the brand new Muzak system in my store. Actually, I had to do it - corporations don't often give you choices in these matters. But after a couple days, I had a smile on my face, as I had heard our favorite Polish diva several times. Muzak played over half of the LWNY cd, as well as the wonderful BOB version of Half A Minute. This makes me realize why Basia is in no hurry to tour or record a new CD. She is making gobs and gobs of money from Muzak :) It would be nice - and quite a surprise, too - to hear something from TSI. I worked for many years in retail and heard quite a few Basia songs there. The only ones I remember hearing from "TSI" were "Yearning" and "Third Time Lucky". Keep your ears open... :-) Makes the day go by quickly, huh? Paul - ---- "You like to listen to your music loud, and that's fine. That's cool. I can understand it for those in the workplace all day, but whenever I heard Basia in the stores, it was nice but it made me wince. Like, "I like somebody they play *in grocery stores?!?!*" I don't know, I think if Basia hadn't had the 'Muzak' stigma thrown at her in various negative reviews, it wouldn't get my dander up. (I'll post the most heinous example!) But I guess the days of Muzak being cheesy are changing, as I was in Wendy's recently and they played current hits, hip-hop, you name it! Maybe I'm just getting old... Also, I didn't see the People reference, but I was geeked up to see Basia on the cover of this month's Jazziz! Granted, it's a collage, and she wasn't mentioned anywhere in the issue (correct me if I'm wrong, I flew through it at Borders and I refuse, on principle, to buy Jazziz, which is a whole 'nother story LOL), but hey! it's something! We take what we can get, by golly! Matt Bianco Muzak covers?? I always knew that I was getting old, out of date and un-hip, but when your favourite group of all time is shredded to Muzak, you know it's time to get out the slippers, rocking chair, pipe and wait for the autumn of life. Muzak!... :^) Hey Jeff!! I did say something of *remote* interest. I mentioned how I had heard Basia on the new Muzak system at my store. Hearing her songs in my store brought a little smile to my day :) There have been no postings for a month, I bet, so any mention is good. I don't know if you are new to this list, but this bunch has wide musical tastes, and can use polysyllabic words in any lively discussion, of which there have been none recently.
