As I have only been on this list about just a little over a year, my apologies in advance if this has been covered before. I purchased the Cream Live (not Eric Clapton !) tape, very cheaply, at a store today. Reason I bought it was, amongst one or two others, was the Drunk On Love remix by Roger Sanchez. How cool is (was) that ? The tape is from 1995. Dave Higginson. ------------------------------ Date: Wed, 7 Jun 2000 21:19:58 -0400 From: "Dennis J. Majewicz" Subject: New Basia Info I have been trying to post to this list unsuccessfully for the past week. Maybe this one will get through... Below is a message that I first tried to send last Wednesday. Keep in mind this is a week old... (By the way, the message is quite outdated now. I did make an mp3 of the interview. Follow this link to download it:: http://briefcase.yahoo.com/bc/d_majewicz Click on the folder called "Peter" and then you can download the mp3 file called "Peter White Interview" by clicking on it. Hey all, Did anyone catch Jazztrax this past Sunday? I was listening to KIFM, via the web, to Art Good's show and became more interested when I realized Peter White was on. They were announcing lineups for a jazz fest coming up later this year at Catalina Island. But what really caught my interest was a remark by the host about "something being in the works by Basia". I couldn't stay with the rest of the show that night, but found that they repeat it during the week from a link on their website. It was tough to locate the right part of the show because it's a continuous loop. It's not a demand stream, so you can't start from the beginning. It was hit or miss for the last few days, but I finally caught it right this morning (yawn) at around 6:30. Remember now, I was half asleep and I tried to write down what I heard, but I was never good at taking notes. Essentially Peter said that he recorded with Basia recently. He said the music is good, but of course there were no vocals yet. Frequently when he records with her there is no vocal ready or even a melody. Anyway, she is currently working on an album and is about half way through. He said he thought it would be out later this year or next year. Peter also said that everywhere he goes people always ask him, in the same way all the time, "What's up with Basia?" The host asked if Peter would do a tour with Basia. He said that it's not 1994 anymore, implying, I think, that Peter is a headliner now and not just part of her band. Peter said that he would like to open for her and play during her act. By the way, he said later that he thought Basia and Danny were better friends now than when they were together. (Best Friends, Best Friends, Best Friends.) Anyway, if anybody wants to hear the show (there's some good music in it by Marc Antoine, Peter White, Jessie Cook, Spyro Gyra, Acoustic Alchemy and many others for all the contemporary jazz fans out there) go to www.jazztrax.com and click on the "Radio Show" link on the left side then on "Listen Now" on the next page. If you have a recent version of RealAudio you'll get a version of that player. If you have a fast connection, the stream is really good quality. I'm trying to figure out a way to record it next time around. Can't wait to see if she does by the end of the year (wouldn't that make it two years since her last one?). Am going to see if I can listen to that now. See ya. Robin "Dennis J.
