Can anyone (Larry?) make an intelligent estimate as to how much money Basia has earned through CD sales, concerts, publishing rights, etc? How much does Danny get? How about Peter and the other musicians? And what do the lesser-known members of the band do to make a living when she isn't busy? Although it was nearly two years ago, it was an unforgettable experience. I've never seen such a finer group of musicians together on one stage. Karen Briggs, is one of the greatest violinist of all times and in my opinion, a better violinist than the conductor Armen Anassian. Danny Reys; percussion, Pedro Eustache; flute, Ramon Stagnaro; guitarist, and the incredible Vann Johnson who has the greatest pipes on earth. Vann just cut her first solo CD, and although I was awaiting it in great anticipation, I was disappointed. The CD "Messages" does not do her voice justice. I'm not a fan of Yanni's earlier music, but his latest recordings are fantastic. Can anyone out there tell me what the beat or rhythm of his music is called? He can neither read nor write music but writes his compositions in his own special shorthand. Basia's beat reminds me of his. Waiting to hear from any of you. Well, I guess that's not what the question asked. *grin* Let's see, what am I listening to? (since someone asked!): weird Real Audio clips from the Emperor Norton website (emperornorthon.com, sure enough, and I think the Zoobombs rule!), the first Fantastic Plastic Machine CD, the first Incognito remix album, Tommy Boy Greatest Beats Vol.3 (which has me thinking what a brilliant song "Looking For The Perfect Beat" is), Black Magic Crossing's excellent debut 'The Balance' (they're on MP3.com in the Detroit section), XTC's 'Apple Venus', Rah Digga, the ubiquitus-in-Detroit "everybody get your roll on!" song (which I never seem to catch who it is!)... oh, yeah, and I've been listening to London Warsaw New York in my car and feeling quite old for it. As far as news is concerned I think Peter White did some work on the alleged new album recently but then we really need Joan to tell the story in that great PR-press release style of hers. Finally, everyone should check out Robert Bradley's Blackwater Suprise for they are very good. Trust me. *grin* - --Leslie, representing for the 'D' __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send instant messages & get email alerts with Yahoo! Hey Basia Fans, Since music is in my blood, and Basia may be taking a rest, I'd like to add another fact about Karen Briggs, violinist. She's dull in the studio, and though I didn't care much for the only CD she's made, but live, the woman is a blast to see. Her showmanship and the feeling she puts into her instrument is really something to see. When I saw her play "live", I wondered if she could make her instrument do my dirty laundry. Also after reading some live interviews with Basia, I get the feeling that recording in the studio and especially touring really takes a lot out of her. Could this be why we are still listening to her old songs? ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 19 May 2000 01:58:00 +0200 From: mondony@club-internet.fr Subject: Re: Hellooooo....Anybody out there? > Is there a computer problem with the mailing list?
