I remember that someone in this list wrote about his presence in one of these gigs. I would like to receive any extra info about those nights and the CD because this is my favourite Basia album. I think that the stage is the right place to prove an artist's skills. Bye and thanks P.D. Please forgive my english ( it took me about one hour to draft this message !!!!!) ______________________________________________________ Get Your Private, Free Email at http://www.hotmail.com ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Nov 1999 09:51:22 EST From: Samurai27@aol.com Subject: Re: Happy Thanksgiving, all!!!... You are probably correct. I also eat Sushi and Sashimi (Fish and rice without seaweed). I have been eating it when it was not quite fashionable in the US, 1977. I love tuna, fluke, giant clam. My favorite is salmon. The only thing I don't like is Sea Urchin because of its taste, texture, and sight. Enough said about food. Sting, he is a very talented composer. And I know in the same interview said she really likes Donald Fagen, He is a musical god, and slower than you know who at realeasing cd's. And of course Austrud Gilberto the girl with the faraway voice. But then she said, Prince,, oh my god. That little man from Minnesota. I could imagine that if someone likes to listen to records that someone might have all or most of that artists works. Now if you are familar with the catalog of "the Artists" works you know that they are quite diverse. How do I say this? "Does Basia skip over songs like, ohhh, "Pussy Control""Circle of Amour" or perhaps "Sexy MF'er" and just listen to the sweeter commercial song like "Raspberry Beret" or "Most beautiful girl in the world" . She must have a wonderful sense of humor, no? Anyway "The Artist" has a new cd out called "Rave un2 the joy fantastic" SMHLOL (Scratching my head laughing outloud) & RFETMY (recovering from eating to much yesterday) Tom ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Nov 1999 10:44:20 -0000 From: "Jim Clary" Subject: Re: RFETMY Sting is good and has improved with experience. Thanks for the tip on Fagen. Prince was somewhat less "controversial" back in the 80's. Perhaps she was thinking of some of his earlier stuff, circa "Purple Rain" era...? -g- Jim ------------------------------ Date: Fri, 26 Nov 1999 10:45:02 -0000 From: "Jim Clary" Subject: Re: Happy Thanksgiving, all!!!... I agree on Sea Urchin and Sea Cucumber - nyet, never again... What is the world coming to? Bananarama are Divas now?!! Anyway, just thought you guys might wanna hear that on the radio tonight as I was coming home there was a news report about a woman from Edinburgh who has been the first person to be convicted of noise pollution in Scotland. It wasn't clear from the report whether her neighbours were complaining about the volume of the music or her taste in CDs, apparently she played nothing but Shania Twain and Celine Dion 24 hours a day for seven weeks!! I know people are having trouble getting off this list right now, well I'm having trouble posting. I had a post about the song 'Big Rosie' that everyone was talking about a while ago and I would really like for everyone to read it but although I've sent it seven times it won't appear on here!! That server can be cantankerous. You are sending the message in text format, not HTML---right? You might try doing a "select all" and then "format" / "text" just to make sure. I have had a couple of problems myself; for example when I try to post "unsubscribe" instructions for folks on the basia-digest ML, and I key in the major domo address for smoe (required in the procedure) my message gets rejected, every-single-time. I've tried all variations including copy/paste, and keying the entire message from scratch. I think part of the confusion for members wanting to unsubscribe is the fact that there are TWO mailing lists-- basia ML, and basia-digest ML. What is the world coming to? Bananarama are Divas > now?!! Oh well, at least she was not taken out by JANE CHILD. And there are some pretty good candidates down below, with very few votes. Basia is at 1% currently with 308 votes so she appears to have a good margin over the subordinates. However I shall do my part and send her up to 318. Looks as if Bananarama has slammed her at 550 though. Don't know whether to laugh or cry. The Diva site is certainly worth a look. I was in N.Y.C. for business when I decided to take a walk in the theatre district. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw Basia's name on the marquee. I called my hotel to arrange to stay 1 more night and I bought scalped tickets for that night's show. Wasn't too bad of a scalping, actually. I paid what the door was charging. I ended coming back the next week on Thursday so my tech-friend Mike could hook me up at the board there. That concert and the following night were compiled in the "Live on Broadway" CD. You can probably hear me hooting after the trumpet solo in "Copernicus". At the end a bunch of people were waiting around the "stage door" hoping for a glimpse. Knowing from past experience with this theatre, I knew they would actually be coming out a different door around the corner. Only two other people figured this out, so it was pretty quiet back there. Annick, Veronique and Dee came out first so I had them sign the program first ( http://users.erols.com/doctorpc/basia2.jpg ). Then Danny http://users.erols.com/doctorpc/basia3.jpg ) and finally Basia who bubbled up and said "You again!". She gave me a kiss on each cheek, signed the program ( http://users.erols.com/doctorpc/basia4.jpg ) and became, for me, yet another fond (and now distant) musical memory. - -- Jeff Abrams doctorpc@erols.com 1993 Brilliant Black 2.5 MX-3 GSR Early bird gets the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. - ----- Original Message ----- From: "José Torres" To: Sent: Friday, November 26, 1999 6:24 AM Subject: BOB > > Hello friends > > Don't forget that the songs included in "Basia on Broadway" album were > recorded on Nov 24th and 25th five years ago, so this is a new anniversary > of these concerts. > I remember that someone in this list wrote about his presence in one of > these gigs.
