This still strikes me as being rather strange, since, especially in the major cities, there are enough English-speaking foreigners around that someone at the record studio could just walk down the hall to Dave-san's office and ask him to take five seconds to check for errors. (Of course, that probably wouldn't help much with Basia's name.) This is what I think about the misspelling on the credits of the single. Those look like it was done by a typewriter. If you accidentally hit a wrong key while spelling that last name, would you want to retype the whole thing over? LOL. But seriously, people make mistakes--I'm sure the Japanese aren't the only ones guilty of having a typo on liner notes. It was a mistake that anyone of any nationality could've made. Stir up a bit and this list gets a hoppin'! :) I wasn't trying to make a stereotypical wise crack about the Japanese--sorry that it sounded that way. But I've lived in Japan for 4 years and taught English--I can speak the language, and I know many Japanese. I've lived there so long, and taught English, that I can joke about such things with them and they can joke along with me. I almost feel Japanese myself that way. The truth is that they DO make many mistakes with their "r"s and "l"s. Heck, I lived there so long that I make the same mistakes, too! My attempt at humor wasn't intended to be offensive. In fact, I was making fun of that "stereotype" in a way. If I had intended to be offensive that would've been out of line and inexcusable. If you took that as offensive--I can understand that. But if you know me better you wouldn't understand that it wasn't such a comment. It's kind of funny--pronounced correctly in Japanese it sounds like the English word "rub." Both could come hand in hand, actually, but . . . . And it sounds just so cute.
