Big Rosie is the name of a song that Basia did when she was with Matt Bianco (back-up). Ashoke played it for me before--and at least I got the impression it was the one that he liked the least (at least out of her collaborations with Matt). I believe the song is on the "Whose Side Are You On" album. I however, like the song's quirkiness. :) The chorus of the song goes "Big Rosie likes to hold me. Big Rosie, come and hold me." Sound like great lyrics, eh? raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 10:29:07 -0500 From: "Joe Palcher" Subject: Re: Initiating rollcall sequence... Though I would never say I hated the song, it is probably the one that I like least--I'm not quite sure about the chorus she sings. raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 16:09:52 +0000 From: Jan Johnson Subject: Masquerade Lyrics - Got 'Em Thanks!! Ok Everybody! I got the lyrics I wanted for 'Masquerade' Impressing all the ladies with the size of his car But none of them would have it The way that 'car' and 'but' get run together was confusing me!! Wasn't until I stumbled upon the lyrics at Ben's site (they weren't there the last time I looked) and had a good listen on my Sony Discman (playing Cds in the car distorts things somewhat) that I realised that I was slightly mistaken!! Maybe this would be a good candidate for the 'misunderstood lyrics' site. On 'Waters of March' Why on EARTH didn't Astrud Gilberto ever record this song? I think about this every time I hear it. The song was made for her. But then so were most things Jobim wrote. Someone out there indicated that they liked the group "Clan of Xymox", who was it? I know it is off topic, but it is rare to stumble on anyone who even knows this group. I'm ready for Basia to tour again.... I'd like my wife to see her. A Long long time. DISCOVERING BASIA: Astrud being was played on the radio. I was freshly divorced, and I thought she had an excellent voice. Her music was wonderful as well! FAVORITE SONGS: Time and Tide, An Olive tree, Not an Angel, More Fire Than Flame, Ordinary People.... The list goes on and on WORST SONGS: Prime Time TV - It just doesn't fit in the T&T album. BEST ALBUM: Time and Tide - It's where it all began! OTHER MUSICAL INTERESTS: The Carpenters, Earth Wind and Fire, Manhiem Steamroller, Spyro Gyra, '70's disco. Most anything with more instruments than your average 4 piece rock and roll band! OTHER INTERESTS: American Motors cars, railroads, outdoor photography, computers, amateur radio. Both my wife and I enjoy the television series "JAG". MISC.: Danced my first dance after being married to my bride to "Time and Tide". As I predicted, the DJ didn't have the CD. It's a good thing that I brought my whole CD collection (about 80 CD's at the time) to the event! ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 13 Nov 1999 15:45:05 -0600 From: "Ben Combee" Subject: Re: Still Rambling....... Yow! I was completely surprised, since I thought I had heard the Astrud version, but I checked my collection and then went to cdnow.com, and whadyouknow, Jan's right! No Astrud version. Most of the versions out there seem to be Jobim in duet with another singer, or a version imitating that style. Too bad. Of course, Astrud's still got time to do a version of her own. - ----- Original Message ----- From: Jan Johnson To: Sent: Saturday, 13 November, 1999 10:14 AM Subject: Still Rambling....... > On 'Waters of March' > > Why on EARTH didn't Astrud Gilberto ever record this song?
