["Lonnie Gunter" Subject: Re: Roach The reason for my interest is that I was on this ML for a few months in early 97 and then I left, until I recently rejoined the ML. Reason I left back in 97 was, I began picking up negative vibes which seemed to center around Roach, who was something of a control freak. We had a weekly chat going on, #basia on mIRC StealthNet. There was some confusion about when to have it because of time zones, individual schedules, etc. Roach sort of came unglued over that one, and there was some subsequent negativity. Shortly thereafter, I left the ML. Much later I noticed that Roach's "Basia" website was gone. It had been a very nice one with lots of photos and info. That was a a bit of a disappointment. All true. Also, on the BOB version, she does a very slick intro of Peter White immediately before his guitar solo. What an unbelievable voice this lady carries. - --Jim ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 22:21:46 -0500 From: "Dennis J. Majewicz" Subject: Re: Intiating rollcall sequence... Good Idea! As I "listened" I learned and discovered I really did like this lady (who resided in the Rock/Pop section of the music stores). I couldn't believe I was even buying her CD's but really liked her style and voice - - and it couldn't have been because I really liked Peter White's music too. I have met some nice people on this list and miss them and the wisdom that they had to impart. It's good to see some of the MIA's answering tthis Subject line. :-) Robin ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 8 Nov 1999 22:15:34 -0600 From: "Steve Homer" Subject: RE: Initiating rollcall sequence... Thelma Gunter Age: 44 Greenville, South Carolina Degree in Sociology with minor in CDFR (Child Development and Family Relations) Occupation: "Happy Housewife" Mom to six, 6, yes SIX wonderful children. One girl and five boys. They are everything I always wanted to be. Married to a wonderful nerd that counts birds as they fly over and the honks of our sons alarm clock in the morning. Lonnie (nerd) plays trumpet and I was able to be the vocalist for his college jazz band in Hawaii. Been a fan since T&T. Moment of shame: Being kicked out of the concert in Atlanta for accidentally video taping the concert. (Went into the men's restroom to recover the tape.) Favorite things about the music: Rhythm that makes life lighter and the ability to put a word like "cerebral" in a song and make it sound so good. I truly love the words used in her writing and her perspective of life. I love her for not being prejudice and for being embarrassed to ride in a limo in New York. So real. Personal hobbies: Collecting chunky heavy pieces of crystal with great angles (small ebay problem), doing stain glass, original cross-stitch (although not lately) and learning about nature. Love to travel and am looking forward to Hawaii next month to see our daughter graduate. Oh, I won $10,000 from Publishers Clearing House this summer. (Thank you National Geographic magazine) Fun thing to do: I absolutely love the 300+1 CD player we got where I can select "Random All" The deversity is so fun. I enjoy hearing about you all. Make that "Ya'll". - -----Original Message----- From: Steve Homer To: basia@smoe.org Date: Monday, November 08, 1999 11:20 PM Subject: RE: Initiating rollcall sequence... > >Name: Steve Homer >Occupation: Director of Training for a commercial ISP >Location: North Richland Hills, Texas (Yet another Fort Worth Suburb!) > >Favorite album: TSI >Basia appearances: Only one in 1994 at the Starplex in Dallas with Spyro >Gyra > Yes it was AWESOME! > >Been here on the list as a lurker since 1996... > >Down periscope... :o) > ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V4 #222 ***************************
