I'm too young apparently to know about this debate... ;) >I'm still dying to know who this producer is. I'm sure >you all have a good idea who *I'd* like to see as >producer, but that's just me and all... I'd like the following to work on Basia's new album: - - Ben Watt (his version of house is simply divine) (I hear 90% of you gasping in horror) - - Nellee Hooper (now, this is a nice idea) - - Rollo Armstrong (the Faithless guy) (no, that would be too much heaven) - - this White guy ;) > Her own work has been remixed for years- >most notable ones being 'Cruising for Bruisinfg' >"UYCBTM" (yes I'm being lazy), and 'Drunk on Love." I said "generated through" - or should have rather said "generated with", not "Recorded using". :) I always tend to think that it's not the equipment that matters, it's what is done with it. I can't find out why some people say that Clear Horizon (the song) is so bad because of the programmed percussion. I don't feel the difference... >> Oh, exactly. And - the inspiration thingie - we can always write a song for her! Like, "I miss my mum and dad". :) Do you think it's a good idea to try to send a letter to Basia to Sony Music Poland? >Can't please all the people, all the time. Hey, this >is the most active this list has ben in a while: keep >it up, everybody emai something! All you lurkers, too >(and that would be about 90 of you, I saw the smoe >list, I know. ;) ) Is there only 90 people on the list?! So there's not as many Basia fans as I thought... Maybe a survey would be a good idea - on the Suzanne Vega list it generated heavy (and I mean heavy) traffic for at least three weeks. I'd always come and find that I have 60 mails, off which 30 were the surveys. :) >> Oh NO!!! :) I was disappointed with Amplified Heart; >> partly because my copy >> sounds like the sound engineer was very drunk and >> partly because it was >> nothing like Missing (Todd Terry mix) >I like the original Missing better than the remix. >*collective gasps of horror* Well. A single mistake doesn't make you look worse in my eyes. ;) Anyway, Tracey & Ben won't top the best song they ever touched, Protection (of course I know it's Massive Attack song, but B&T have writing credits and of course Tracey sings it) So that's it for today: some Basia, some EBTG and almost no PSB. :) Nightlife is out on Monday... :D (-) Ray - -=[::: come.to\raynavarra ::: www.mp3.com\raynavarra :::::::::::]=- Number one this week: Pet Shop Boys "New York City Boy" ------------------------------ Date: Sat, 9 Oct 1999 11:23:13 EDT From: Samurai27@aol.com Subject: Re: No new cd this year Not that I want to talk out of class but...... Some of you know if you send Peter White an email he makes it a point to answer everyone if time permits. Well, I am no exception. I am a big fan of his and I will be attending his concert next Friday Oct 15 at IMAC in Long Island. I asked him about Basia's new CD and he told me there will be no new CD this year. He also intends on spending the remaining part of the year touring so he will not have a new cd either this year. I can't remember if anyone on the list had mentioned this but I thought I would post this for those who are already depressed with Basia's inability to work in the studio. She mentions on the Polish Samba cd that she is not very disciplined and Danny must practice at least three hours daily. Well, we can't say that she did not warn us. His last studio album was 1994's "Mamouna". While he was in the midst of writing that album, he developed a severe case of writer's block and recorded "Taxi" - - a full-on covers CD. Maybe Basia could take a note from the ex-Roxy Music frontman (who is releasing a new covers CD and touring this month) and do the same. She seems to enjoy interpreting other people's songs so why not just a whole CD's worth? It's better than all this waiting and wondering that we're all doing. And since Samurai27 brought up "Polish Sambas" I have to ask this? Does anybody out there know where I can get a copy of this and "Strangely Familiar Tunes"? Can't find 'em anywhere!
