"So Nice!" Meg: Actually, Juan may have hit upon something here... if you are attempting to play .mp3 files on a Mac (Apple OS) machine, you might need a little program called MacAmp, which is distributed by the same people that make WinAmp (one of the more popular .mp3 players for PCs). MacAmp (and WinAmp)can be downloaded for free from: http://www.winamp.com And, if you're using a PC, WinAmp has always been my player of choice...for whatever **that's** worth :^) Hope this helps! - -Kevin soundman@inetarena.com jp wrote: > Ditch the Mac and get a PC - hahahahahahahah. > Seriously, it plays fine on my machine with WinAmp. Yeah-- ha ha freaking ha, pal! ;) > Seriously, it plays fine on my machine with WinAmp. > I wish I could help, > but I know nothing about Macs other than that they > exist. What happened to my file was that it turned into a QuickTime4 file, and it worked quite well that way. For some reason I couldn't get it to save as an mp3 (no complaints!) but if I were to do so, I would use MacAmp to play it. It works quite well. QT4 is a free download from Apple, BTW. MacAmp is also free but I don't know the site. - --Leslie, seeing visions of blue and white __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yeah, yeah, ok, so you guys all thought 'the nutty Brit' was dead........not so!! I've been lurking for a wee while, wondering what has happened to so many of the old regulars, Ben, Ashoke, Meg...... Well as those of you who know me will already have experienced, there's nothing designed to get my blood running like a mention of Astrud, and being as I'm like Ms Gilberto's GREATEST fan I am ON TOP OF THE MOON that Basia has finally recorded one of her songs. And despite my liking for the original Astrud version of 'So Nice', I have to admit that the Basia rendition is pretty good, and even dancable!! Of course, we shouldn't be suprised at this. Astrud did after all record a disco version of 'Girl From Ipanema' !! Now something about the original version of 'So Nice'. Also known as 'Summer Samba', this appeared on the Astrud album 'A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness' (recorded with the Walter Wanderley Trio). However, when Verve decided to reissue a lot of their original vinyl on CD a few years later, it was decided that the Astrud album 'Look To The Rainbow' was a bit short for a CD release, so the first six songs from 'A Certain Smile, A Certain Sadness' were later added. Meg, I recommend listening to MPEG3 recordings using WINAMP. It's free and very customisable, but it is advisable to reinstall CRESCENDO if you are using that to play midi files as well. One thing about Winamp that I particularly like are the 'skins' which you can download to change the look of the player console, at the moment mine is set to 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' but skins are available for most movies, TV shows and popular artists. Basia is not amongst them.......yet!! Whilst I still have your attention, I thought I'd mention that I've tried to get a couple of recordings of Basia's from CD Europe but in both instances the orders have come back to me 'No Longer Available'. One of them was the alternative version of 'Third Time Lucky' with the drumbeat. I have the MPEG3 version, but unfortunately no cash to invest in a Diamond Rio player so therefore no way of playing this ellusive track in my car!! I think that's enough from me for a while. Nearer Christmas I'll post my usual recipes for Roast Potatoes, Yorkshire Pudding and Christmas Pudding and teach you all how to make table crackers that go 'Bang!'. I, too, am a big fan of Ms Gilberto and I have WinAmp decorated in a BtVS sking as well. Now don't go telling me you like Willow best, like I do... If so, we probably got separated at birth. :-) Benn - ----- Oorspronkelijk bericht ----- Van: Jan Johnson Aan: Verzonden: maandag 20 september 1999 22:20 Onderwerp: Weekend treat ... You know, us Basia fans really haven't had it so bad waiting five years for a new album. We've gotten a good amount of new material in the past five years--songs from "Broadway," "Just Another Day," "Waters of March," "Angels Blush," "Clear Horizon," "Go For It," "Springtime Laughter," "So Nice"--have I forgotten any? That is plenty to fill one album.
