FWIW, I found the answer to my own question. Took about 5 minute's research. The following is pasted from the Spyro Gyra's web site, FAQ section Q. Where did the name Spyro Gyra come from? A. When the band started out in Buffalo NY, there was no name for the group. The beginnings of the band grew out of a weekly jam session at a club in Buffalo named Jack Daniel's. Since it was very informal, the weekly session was known only as "Tuesday Night - Jazz Jam". As the popularity grew, the club owner wanted to put a name of the group on a new sign that he had just bought for the front of the club. One late night, that owner was asking Jay to decide on a name for his sign. Jay jokingly said, "Call it spirogira." Spirogira is an algae that Jay had remembered from biology class that is commonly known as "pond scum." The next week, that name was on the sign incorrectly spelled as "Spyro Gyra." In short, it was a joke. Spyro Gyra's website is at http://www.spyrogyra.com/ . Now you know the true reasons why: - Danny always looks so miserable - Basia albums are released so rarely (because apparently Danny always knocks some of Basia's beloved cups) - Kevin wears kilt - Mikolaj has no girlfriend (apparently Basia is the last person in the world who doesn't know it) ;) OK, let the flames begin. Let them begin! (I think I'll unsubscribe for few weeks now.) - ----------------------------------------------------------------------- This is completly ficticious episode 3.5 PREMISES AND SETTINGS ; Danny decides that he and his brother Peter are going to write all the songs, record them and let basia sing on them because they are going for a more dancy style, more commercial because they are going on forty and all.Now it is time to "cash-in" with thier talent, riding on the tails of the "newwave" of latin sh*t that is stylistically hyponotizing all American youth. they claim they are going to convince the record company"how they can get the older market excited about their music again (for guys like Tom) and also capatilize on the youth. basia has been scoring wording and thinking of a "clever american style", she has been taking singing lessons again from the great Tona de Brett who has taught mariah and celine to be a "vocal stylist". Celine touts often "A vocal stylist, that is what I am" basia has started to enjoy an interest in country and western, despite her one influence of pop music as an adult, Kevin the watery jazz guy. "I make him wear kilts, he is like a polish bull" she has said. The day of the overdubs basia shows up the studio with 3 stretch limos, 60 children, her new choir. she decides "I miss my mom and dad" is the first picture CD single. Basia has already recorded at home with Kevin, and has the multi-track tapes in hand. With six remixes and 14 potential sleeve designs . Basia only has today to track voices because she is working for UNICEF now and "It demands the time much of me". Besides Danny and Peter and their mom are going to the Theatre. Basia has little interest in Danny and Peters songs. Danny having had so much experience in song composition over the years figures that all he has to do is come up with some more dance hits, and that should be about as hard as "drinking a cup of tea" for Danny White. During the session as basia's tape rolls, Danny and Peter anticipate what basia has come up with this time. Throughout the intro of the song, mostly cellos and oboes, a simple and distictive country western beat appears, sublime, almost nice, Basia directes the left side of the group of children to sing (with hands waving above the head) " I miss my mom" conversely, the right side sings "I miss my dad". Into the control room walks Dee Anthony thier manager, and he is wearing a feather boa. "This guy makes number ones happen", basia tells the children "He's legendary, he has helped Danny and me to get near the top of the chart." "Now sing with me children, sing" Basia, almost teary eyed starts the first verse "I miss my mom, you are so very far away..... I miss you papa, you are so very far away..... But i must do what I must do...... and so on and so on................." Meanwhile back in the control room Mark Chamberlin (The best recording engineer in the world) offers" I think she's doing it again, It's uncanny, Basia is singing her part perfectly on the first take" "Sometimes Basia does that" says Mix Master Phil Harding . Danny, scoffing pints of english ale is standing in the corner of the control room and looks confused about this whole recording session, he is chewing on his nails and blurts out something odd,, his latest latent fetish, catching himself in a moment of utter stupidity, all the guys in the control room start teasing Danny about his blurtation and something known as his"twirl with the old broad". "why did I say that, why am I so sad all the time" Danny said. At this point Peter throws a big white cake in his face. Classic White brother antics. Besides Angel food cake tastes good with beer. Towards the end of the song, clutching her headphones and singing at the top of her lungs in polish, Basia glimpses and notices that the tape machine room is on fire, everbody being so caught up in the moment doesn't understand her gestures toward the burning sparks or her loud polish offering that the "Tape machine room is on fire"" El machina de esteriofonico es en fiero" she motions the waving children towards the studio exit. Still being the professional that she is basia at the very most outstretched limits of her vocal cords directs a most chilling wolf tone at the Neumann microphone. "Marrrrrrrrrkkkkkk, Dannnnnnnyyyyyyyyy, Pettttttterrrrrrrrr, The f*cking tapemachine room is on fire". "Say mates, let's get out of here" said Peter seeing the plastic smoke take over the control room,Danny, awash with cake and beer losses his footing, falls and is knocked out. Peter grabbs him by the foot and pulls him to the safety of the outdoors. "This is a mess, my tape has been burned to a crisp" Basia cries. Peter looking at Basia, puts his arm around her and consouls "Darling don't get your Tzet-in-a-shleska, everything will be fine" Kevin pulls up on his Moped motorcycle. "I saw the smoke from our little home, miles away,,,are you OK?" "Kevin, Kevin it was terrible, It started in half a minute first I saw more fire than flame. The smoke was almost more than i could bear, I made the children sneak out the back door to run for cover." " Why are you talking in song titles?" asks Mark Chamberlin. "Oh Shsss, Mark, now Kevin be a good boy and go get us some ice cream" "Yes Dear"....... Hmmmm.... Anybody else gonna try an episode?
