Neither do I... :) > Leslie-chan--what the heck is Cibo Matto? :) They're a band based in New York that has two women from Japan along with Sean Lennon and a couple of other guys. They are great live, and I recommend them to anyone who may have a chance to see them- they mix up hip hop, soul, pop (obviously) even heavy metal at one point! Miho Hatori holds her own as a singer and rapper- she's not the best at either, but she puts so much into it that it turns out pretty good. Song titles are phrases such as "Lint of Love," "Beef Jerky," "Sci-Fi Wasabi" ("Obi-Wan Kenobi / told me/ in the lobby") and, of course, "Know Your Chicken." To make this marginally Basia related, the interesting thing to me is that Cibo appears to have a lot of the same influences as Basia or Incognito or the like, but they turn it around in a completely different way. IMHO, "King of Silence" reminds me of the 'Cog, while "Moonchild" is one-sixteenth Basia (same as 'Flowers'). Probably completely unintentionally; probably just me hearing things, or the similar American soul influence. They have an old-school hiphop influence that Basia and Incognito lack however. :) > Hoping that a friend in Japan can mail me a copy of > that Taro/Basia > single. That really sucks that they don't release > it in the States > and other countries. You guys- I really wouldn't be suprised to see this ablum released in the States at some point. His last album was released here in 1998- featuring Celine Dion, no less (cheer or retch, whatever your preference). I believe this song is on the full-length album, so we may see it yet. I'm being optimistic here. - --Chibi-Leslie __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I'd say it's a fairly safe bet that "So Nice" will be on it :) ... And... I got my shipping confirmation for my copy of the "So Nice" single on Monday, so it should be here tomorrow or Saturday. I'll rip it to an .mp3 file, and let y'all know when it's ready. And... sorry I haven't responded (yet) to the requests that some of you have made to secure your own copies of this-- I've been working in my (miniscule) spare time on the latest discography update. [And this way, I can post the .mp3, and you'll get to hear the song before you commit yourself to ordering-- not that there's any chance you won't want it anyway, I'm certain!!] Anyhow-- more to come soon...!! - -Kevin Leslie Brown wrote: > > > I don't like hotmail. You see, being a Basia fan and all, I have to be an optimist... after all I've been waiting 5 1/2 years for an album along with all of you, and for 4 more years before that, so a few months for a domestic release sounds like no problemo! Amazing how Trzetrzelewska Standard Time can work! Everything just seems *so* much sooner!(LOL) Or later... In any case I'm gonna try to get a friend to bring it back for me. > I'll rip > it to an .mp3 file, and let y'all know when it's > ready. YES!
