Thanks, Kevin! Actually, all I really remember about that period was that I was judging engineering for the Grammy's and fell in love with that album. All of a sudden, several cuts began airing on local radio. Had it not been for the Engineering Grammy craft judging, I might never have stumbled upon her (same goes for Kevyn Lettau, Pete Escovedo, Larry Carlton, David Benoit and some others). ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Larry Lipman - --------------------------------------------------------------- Division Coordinator; Recording Studio Manager Commercial Music degree programs in Recording Technology & Music Business - --------------------------------------------------------------- The University of Memphis Commercial Music Program Campus Box 526546 - 232 CFA Building Memphis, TN 38152-6546 (901) 678-2559 [w/voice mail] FAX: (901) 678-5118 E-Mail: Llipman@memphis.edu ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ ------------------------------ Date: Mon, 30 Aug 1999 03:15:36 -0700 From: mondony@club-internet.fr Subject: Homage : Casino de Paris. Hi everybody, It's the end of holiday, here in France and in my home. I read yesterday E.mail on the list. Some make me laugh (Great Ben !!). I discover this week a paper written in a diary called "Le Monde" (06/15/1987). The journalist was Claude Fleouter and describe his feeling about Basia before the show in "Casino de Paris". You could jeer for the translation... "...Basia does not have a solidified musical space, it is broad and open : limpid balads sung with sobriety with pretty "jazzy" melodies slightly colored of a Latin-American tone. All is coodinated according to a voice significant and generous, which "swingue" with a radiant energy, streches the words with an astonishing lightness. There is in Basia an explosive mixture of frankness and professionalism, rigour and spontaneousness..." I thought this homage could help us waiting the new album. Basia, do you casting Eskimo musicians ???. Sacré Français !. Faf. ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V4 #177 ***************************
