The Jobim video is titled "ANTONIO CARLOS JOBIM: An All-Star Tribute", released in 1995. It's available through View Video for $29.98 (212/674-5550, www.view.com). Also, legendary jazz singer Eddie Jefferson does not appear on the video nor could he have performed at this concert. Eddie Jefferson died in 1977; the artist name in question is actually singer Jon Hendricks, formerly of Lambert, Hendricks, & Ross fame and now Jon Hendricks & Company. And, Shirley Horn is the other singer you were trying to spell/mention. Oh, regarding the Costa-Jobim video, "A.C. Jobim/Gal Costa - Rio Revisited", it's available through Amazon.com for $16.99. Basia told me in an interview she's a diehard fan of Brazilian/S. American music and counts Jobim a -major- influence. Of course, we hear these influences all over the place in her vocals/arrangements. Denis OTM Stephen Ylvisaker wrote: > > >At 09:29 AM 8/16/99 CDT, you wrote: > > > > > > > > >Enough. I figure if Basia is singing background, it wouldn't stand out enough for me to buy any. Also, which CD's is she on? All of them? Am I wrong thinking this way about them? Are these Matt Bianco CD's worth the price to hear Basia sing? Someone let me know, please. Now, there are several different versions of this with different vocals on each. For example, the CD has a version of "More Than I Can Bear" which Basia was deleted from (Boo!) and has a weird version of "Matt's Mood" as well as "Half A MInute" with Peter White deleted! Meanwhile my vinyl and cassette versions are intact and all good. God only knows why this is. Now, the only song Basia sings lead on is the original "Half A Minute" which is just precious. The rest are background vocals or intermittent choruses ("It's Getting Late" for example, notable because she's telling Mark Reilly to go away ) I personally think it is definitely worth it for nothing else if to hear a rather young Basia and see another step in her evolution. - --Leslie _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Oh, you guys are going to love this but there is a Matt Bianco ML AND-- Mark Reilly and Mark Fisher respond to the mail. It's a really sparse list (kinda like us in our slow periods, eh-- I kinda wish Basia would so some other Polish award show or something so we'd have something to talk about!) but the actual artist responds. Jealous, Leslie (and Maysa is on the Incog Digest while Bluey responds to the website guestbook. Envious yet?) _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? A person on the list with rather good taste sez; Matt Bianco ROCKS! Don't blame it on that girl! Whap bam boogie Tom sez; "Fire in the Blood" Rules. How about the extened remix of "Big Rosie" and "The other side" Totally fun. But I swear man, "Half a minute" is THE song. But then one the other hand, "Riding with the wind" AAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also the domestic release of the 1988 "Indigo" without Basia and Danny. Mark does a fine job but lacks the Basia sound. Indigo has several tracks produced by Emilio Estefan (Gloria's husband.) This is one bouncy disc. More info available upon request. Peace to all. jaz ------------------------------ End of basia-digest V4 #169 ***************************
