Please excuse spelling. Don't have the records but Love the songs." Basia would do fabulous rendition of "Girl From Impanina!" But it seems that too many artists do remakes of that song. I think she should do something more original, IMHO. Hey, guys. I got a copy of a special Japanese promotion CD set called "Basia XMAS." My friend gave it to me when I was in Japan on business a few weeks ago. Just greatest hits from her first three CDs, then a special CD with "Angels Blush" and "Waters of March." Already have all the songs, but still pretty cool. raburabu joe ------------------------------ Date: Sun, 15 Aug 1999 22:20:34 -0400 From: The Cidade Family Subject: Re: Sergio Mendes and Brazil 66 I'd like to add my 2 cents (or is that dos centavos) to this: Though I am a native-born American, I grew up in an ethnic enclave that was and still is predominantly Portuguese. Mas Ca Nada, A Mossa da Impanema, and many other songs were popular in our neighborhood. Not because they were songs with a great beat (which they are) but because we heard Sergio Mendes and Brasil (notice the "s") 66 (sessenta e seis) in native Portuguese.......granted it is Brazilian Portuguese, but nonetheless, it was a favorite around the house and the neighborhood. Yes, I must agree that Basia singing some of these medlies would do both her and Sergio a lot of justice.
