Actually, I love a leisurely Sunday breakfast with a fat newspaper and some jazz on the stereo. Speaking of Miles Away, I've been hearing that one and a few others from T&T on Music Choice lately. They never played anything newer than LWNY. And she still pops up on the grocery store PA (Wegman's - Jim and Dano!) every week or so. It's still good to hear the early stuff. Yes, I know I'm definitly a newbie although I know Basia from her matt Bianco-time, when I was dancing my brains out on 'get out your lazy bed'. Then I lost touch with the carreer of Basia, I knew she went solo, but I never heard anything in dutch media. I guess she never had a hit-record over here in Holland (am I correct?). My favorite band is Level 42 and their mailing list mentioned basia a few weeks ago (in a positive way). Then I became curious, luckily enough I saw 'LWNY' and 'the best remixes' for special price and bought them. I was stunned, what a great cd, I like all the tracks and that's very rare for me to like them all. Now I understand from the messages on this mailing-list last week these cd's is not even her best one, so you understand I must have all the music of basia! I ordered the broadway-cd and hope to find all the other ones too but I must say it's very difficult to find over here. I cannot wait to have 'basia on broadway' in my cd-player, esspecially curious about 'reward' my favorite track for now. I saw it was a long version, must be great. A few questions: - - How many members are there on this mailing list? (any dutch subscribers?) - - What are the hit-singles of Basia and in which countries is she popular? - - the gold version of T&T, is this the remastered version? - - are there any bootlegs available? Welcome, newbie. Gee, I'd like to know if there are any bootlegs too. I'd like to hear all the songs she may have sung in concert during the Broadway Tour. There are a couple of videos available of song clips released by the record co. They're pretty good. I'm from Toronto, Canada and New Day for You was the first single, followed by Promises. She's never been here for a tour though. Hopefully, after the next album gets released, she'll consider paying us a visit. Personal opinion, of course. I'm coming in late on this one, but I agree. There are these different levels to 'best' for me, though. Artistically, I think 'Sweetest Illusion' is the best, by far. For musicianship, TSI as well as the live album. For memories, London Warsaw New York, because it was at a seminal point of devolopment for me. And Time and Tide is just cute. that's probably a lame way of saying it, but to me there is a really innocent quality to it. And, I gotta put in a mention of Brave New Hope. It was the first CD I bought (when I could finally get my parents to pony up for the player!) and it actually had songs from it played on Detroit radio. Another vote for nostalgia. - --Leslie _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Golly, I have the opposite problem: having to talk my 46 year old mom t go to a show with me! LOL! Actually, that's what I used to have to do,when I was young, pre-driving, and wanted a live show fix. I made her go to see Pat Metheny Group and Najee, Larry Carlton, Rippingtons and Acoustic Alchemy. In the end she rather enjoyed it. Paul: Basia appears with the band Amazulu in the episode titled "Time"... she doesn't sing, and although she is holding a guitar (as well as miming along with the rest of the band), she does not play on the track. According to her son Nick, she appeared as a favor to some friends in the band, who needed bodies to "fill out" the group for the TV appearance. Her other CD's are also wonderful, but I don't like to have to listen to some of the numbers like "Gimme That" (sorry, Jeff) and "Freeze Thaw". I just finished listening to their Greatest Hits CD, a most pleasurable experience, I might add, and it was very easy to imagine Ms. B singing on those songs. If you just took Basia, Danny, and Peter, the stripped-down version of the band, they would be almost interchangeable.
