Lianzen - Welcome to Basia-land! That is a wonderful CD isn't it? Time and Tide is what put me under the Basia spell too .... that was quite a few years back though. As time goes by you must try her other CD's - check out Ben Combee's Basia webpage at: http://basia.techwood.org/ for all the latest - including video clips. (hustling to put out the fire he had inadvertantly lit under Leslie's feet...) No, no, no-- no officially announced date... I was referring to that ethereal "end-of-1999" date that someone managed to squirrel out of the Epic representative, via e-mail... By the way, L-- coincidentally, shortly after you dropped your note about "no credits in Basia-land", I found an answer to at least one of your examples. someone named "Snowboy" is credited with the berimbau performance, as well as shakers on "Baby You're Mine" (this is courtesy of a special edition single, with lyrics and credits printed inside...) Whew-I needed that. :) No, no, no-- no officially announced > date... (LOL) Well, I'm still hoping something will pop up in the next couple of months. BTW, the Spyro Gyra press release for Got the Magic also calls it 'later this year' as well. I hope it's sooner... > performance, as well as shakers on "Baby You're > Mine" (this is courtesy > of a special edition single, with lyrics and credits > printed inside...) > [also, bass: Andres Lafone, strings: Gavyn Wright, > and additional drums: > Andy Gangadeen] Cool! Snowboy and Andres Lafone have their own band, Snowboy and the Latin Section, which kicks. Two of their albums available domestically are Something's Coming and Pit Bull Latin Jazz (I wholwheartedly endorse the latter), on I think either Hollywood or Instinct records (whichever is responsible for rereleasing the Acid Jazz catalog in the US) They are very, very Latin jazz oriented. Great stuff. Also he has some songs on various Totally Wired (or Totally Re-Wired, if you're in the States). But- my favorite- if you can find it- is 'Ritmo Snowbo' which was done shortly after the tours wih Basia in 1989-90. Some great singles compiled within, featuring some familiar faces (Kevin Robinson, Robin Jones, Andre Lafone, some other guys I could name if I could find where I packed the CD!) This is only an import for you in the States, on the Acid Jazz label. La, la, la! - --Leslie _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Hi again everyone, Thank you for the warm welcome. I just spoke with my friend and was told that the Promises video was actually a Crystal Lite commercial using the song. Hee. Go figure. Anyway, is there any sure fire place to get a video to this one song? As an answer to Paul's question, I've been listening to Basia for about a week. I don't think I ever remembered Basia in the eighties (although her Asturd tune sounds familiar) but then again, I was only a kid back then listening to kiddy music. :) Is Time and Tide her best album? CDNOW rates her later albums as being better but those sound clips don't sound so hot. Then again, I guess, real audio clips on a 33.6 modem never do songs justice. lianzen@netzero.com ________________________________________________________ NetZero - We believe in a FREE Internet.
